Accordingly, at around 3:00 p.m. on September 22, at Km 17+200, on the coastal road through Quang Hanh ward, hundreds of tons of rock from the mountain along the road collapsed, causing danger and affecting traffic. At the scene, a part of the rock mountain had collapsed, large rocks fell down the roadside, some were thrown onto the road and into the adjacent lane. The rock slide broke an electric pole, damaged the sidewalk, and affected the lighting and drainage systems. Fortunately, at the time of the landslide, there were no vehicles passing by and there were no casualties.
Immediately after the landslide occurred, the leaders of Quang Hanh ward and the functional forces were present to assess the situation, place warning signs, divert traffic, and regulate traffic to ensure safety. At the same time, they directed the forces to temporarily fix the rocks and soil scattered on the road, causing danger to people and vehicles. Then, excavators were brought in to break the rocks to fix the problem and ensure smooth traffic.
According to the leader of Quang Hanh ward, in the long term, there needs to be a comprehensive and detailed assessment of the landslide area in order to thoroughly fix it.
Witnesses said that after the loud explosion, hundreds of tons of rocks slid down the road. At the time of the landslide, there was no rain in the area. Mr. Nguyen Dang Quy, group 7, Quang Hanh ward ( Quang Ninh province) said: "This route has a very large traffic volume of people and vehicles, the partially collapsed mountain could continue to slide, potentially causing danger from falling rocks and soil. Therefore, we hope that the authorities will soon completely fix the landslide so that people can feel secure when passing through here."
During the rainy season, landslides occur on many roads in Quang Ninh province, affecting traffic. Therefore, authorities need to take measures to warn and handle landslide-prone areas to ensure traffic safety.
