Free examination and surgery for children with congenital lip and palate deformities

On the morning of October 27, at Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, the Provincial Children's Fund in collaboration with Operation Smile Vietnam organized a program to examine and perform surgery for children with lip and palate deformities in Dak Lak province.

In 2023, with the permission of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Children's Support Fund will continue to coordinate with Operation Smile and Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital to organize a program of examination and surgery for children with lip and palate deformities with the participation of doctors performing the program of examination, consultation, screening and surgical support for children, along with a surgical team of more than 40 experienced doctors and technicians from leading specialized hospitals in Vietnam.

The program will be implemented from October 27 to October 31, 2023 at Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital with main activities such as: examining about 300 children aged at least 5 months across the province; 100 children will receive free orthopedic surgery with the total cost of surgery worth 7-8 million VND/case and will be supported with travel expenses, accommodation during the surgery and treatment at the hospital. The estimated value of the entire program is about 800 million VND.

In addition to supporting free examination and surgery for children, the Provincial Children's Fund has mobilized units to accompany the Fund to support lunches and give gifts to all children coming for examination and surgery during this period.

Representatives of the units gave gifts to children participating in examination and surgery for lip and palate deformities during this period.

It is known that this is the 17th year that the Provincial Children's Fund has cooperated with Operation Smile and the first year that it has cooperated with Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital to examine and perform surgery for children in the province, to help them have orthopedic surgery, restore their smiles, and bring a bright future to them.
