Storm No. 3 and its circulation have left serious consequences for the Northern provinces in general and Phu Tho in particular. In addition to the loss of life, property, infrastructure, agricultural production has also been severely damaged. The whole province has 3,591 hectares of rice, 1,697 hectares of crops flooded, waterlogged, broken; nearly 200 hectares of perennial trees, over 150 hectares of annual crops, more than 370 hectares of fruit trees, nearly 120 hectares of forest broken, fallen. In addition, 28 fish cages were sunk, broken. The most serious damage was in the districts along the Thao River such as Ha Hoa, Thanh Ba, Cam Khe...

Urgently restore production

People of Huong Non commune, Tam Nong district tie and rebuild the broken and fallen rice fields caused by storm No. 3 and its circulation.

Immediately after the water began to recede, along with cleaning up their houses to return after evacuation, people in the above localities also urgently restored production, re-tied broken and fallen rice fields due to rain and flooding; harvested viable corn fields; and processed damaged vegetable and banana fields in riverside alluvial areas...

Although the rice fields were still flooded, Ms. Le Thi Nhiem and her daughter in Huong Non commune, Tam Nong district still went to the fields to tie the rice in a "tripod" style as instructed by the commune's agricultural extension team, to prevent the rice from falling over, creating favorable conditions for the rice to continue to grow and ripen in case of continued heavy rain.

Ms. Nhiem said: "This year, the storm happened right at the time of preparing to harvest the Summer-Autumn crop, so we had to quickly set up and tie the rice plants to stand upright. Otherwise, after just 1-2 days of soaking in water, the rice would sprout and could only be used as feed for livestock and poultry."

To help farmers overcome the consequences and restore production as soon as possible, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of districts, cities and towns has directed localities to concentrate forces such as militia, commune police, youth union members... to support people in harvesting rice and vegetables, cleaning houses, cleaning the environment, stabilizing life and production.

Comrade Tran Minh Nghiep - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Cam Khe district said: Immediately after the water receded, the People's Committee of the district directed localities to mobilize people to focus on harvesting the rice area that was ready for harvest; apply the instructed technical measures to tie and rebuild so that the rice continues to ripen; organize the harvest of corn and bananas in the riverside area; destroy rotten, rotten crops that cannot be repaired, to avoid causing pollution and soil poisoning in the winter crop production. Communes that were not affected or were slightly affected by the floods also sent forces to support localities that suffered heavy damage, minimizing the damage caused by storm No. 3 and its circulation to agricultural production.

Since September 11, in addition to inspecting and directing damage recovery and production restoration in localities, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has issued a document requesting the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns to direct localities to focus on draining water to save rice; provide technical guidance on tying and erecting ripening rice to avoid falling if natural disasters continue to occur; harvest rice at the right time according to the motto "greener at home than old in the fields", prepare land for winter crop planting. For vegetable and color areas, harvest promptly to ensure productivity and quality. Areas that cannot be recovered should be collected for destruction, use lime powder to disinfect, loosen the soil to avoid anaerobic conditions, bacteria and germs existing in the soil, and prepare the land for winter crop production. Provide specific technical guidance on damage treatment and crop restoration for annual crops, perennial crops, fruit trees, etc.

At the same time, localities closely monitor weather conditions and take appropriate production direction measures in case of further natural disasters.
