Construction started in July 2023, but up to now, the Ring Road 3 project through Hoc Mon district, Ho Chi Minh City has only reached 15% progress due to difficulties in supplying sand materials.
According to Dan Viet reporters, in the XL8 package (passing through Hoc Mon district) of the Ring Road 3 project, workers and engineers are focusing on implementing construction items including an overpass over Nguyen Van Bua street, 2 overpasses over the canal and a highway section longer than 7km.
Construction of the XL8 package started in August 2023 with a total value of VND 1,417 billion, but to date, it has only achieved 15% of the progress due to difficulties in supplying sand materials.
According to the contractor representative, the entire package requires about 1.4 million cubic meters of sand to build the foundation for the main road and the secondary roads, bypasses, and service roads. However, since the beginning of construction, sand resources have been scarce, leading to delays.
According to this representative, at the end of September 2024, more than 120,000m3 of sand began to arrive, and the contractor is currently speeding up construction to make up for the past progress.
The construction unit is handling the reinforcement of weak ground using the wick drainage method.
At the same time, the construction unit is also focusing on simultaneously implementing bridge items at the TL9 overpass and N8 bridge.
The Ring Road 3 project is 76km long, passing through 4 localities, including Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Long An with a total cost of nearly 75,400 billion VND. In Ho Chi Minh City, the project has 14 packages. It is expected that Ring Road 3 will complete the project in 2025 and open the entire route in 2026.
This is a project of great significance to the city’s transport development. In particular, after completion, the project is expected to help reduce traffic congestion, connect areas and promote socio -economic development.
