Aspiration for innovation, bringing Cu Lao Gieng to comprehensive development

Cu Lao Gieng commune was newly formed on the basis of merging three communes: Tan My, My Hiep and Binh Phuoc Xuan. Implementing the resolution of the Commune Party Congress in the context of many advantages and challenges. However, with the solidarity and high consensus in society, maximizing internal resources, effectively taking advantage of external resources, Cu Lao Gieng achieved many important results in all fields. The work of building the Party, government, Fatherland Front and mass organizations received attention, quality and efficiency improved; people's lives increasingly developed, rural appearance improved; achieving and exceeding the targets of the term resolution.

Agriculture has been restructured towards improving quality, value and sustainable development. Many effective production models have been implemented according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP and applying scientific and technical advances. High-tech production areas have been effective, bringing high economic efficiency to many farmers, raising the average income to more than 82 million VND/person/year; the average production value of 1 hectare of agricultural land is more than 330 million VND.

The breakthrough point is that the entire agricultural production area of Cu Lao Gieng has been transformed by farmers from rice to fruit trees and vegetables with high economic value with nearly 4,300 hectares. Typically, Cu Lao Gieng mango is exported to many world markets. Trade, services and tourism have developed. Tourism has flourished with a series of sightseeing spots, eco-tourism, and spiritual tourism. Con En eco-tourism spot, Cu Lao Gieng church... annually attract tens of thousands of tourists to visit and worship.

In particular, the commune completed many large projects with a total cost of more than 47 billion VND, promoting socio-economic development. 25 enterprises, nearly 300 production and business establishments and traditional craft villages helped maintain regular jobs for rural workers. Cultural and social fields were strongly innovated, improving quality; the rate of poor households decreased to 0.93%, near-poor 2.06%. Mass mobilization work was strongly promoted, mobilizing resources from the people of more than 66 billion VND to carry out social security work and build new rural areas.

- Reporter: What breakthroughs, tasks and solutions does the Commune Party Committee focus on to help Cu Lao Gieng develop, innovate and make breakthroughs in the coming time, comrade?

- Comrade Vo Minh Nang: In the new term, the Party Committee and the People of the commune are determined to maintain and protect the achievements. On that basis, the Party Committee of the commune sets out 16 main targets and 2 breakthroughs, focusing on key goals. Specifically, focusing on improving the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party Committee; promoting the effectiveness and efficiency of management of the government and the political system; promoting democracy, effectively exploiting local advantages, mobilizing resources to invest in infrastructure, promoting socio-economic development, improving people's lives.

Cu Lao Gieng will focus on shifting the structure of crops and livestock towards efficiency and sustainability, associated with the application of science, technology and market demand. At the same time, the locality will promote tourism development based on existing potential and advantages, building typical products, thereby enhancing economic value and people's lives.

In addition to economic development, the commune pays attention to social security, environmental protection, and improving people's income and spiritual life. The Party Committee of the commune determines that it must always maintain political security, order, and social safety, build solidarity and unity within the entire Party Committee, and create motivation for the commune to develop sustainably in the new period.

The commune strives for a total budget revenue from the local economy of 38.5 billion VND in 5 years; an average annual growth rate of total product value of 7.07%; total social investment capital of more than 5.4 billion VND. Average income per capita in 2030 will reach 108.14 million VND; the poverty rate will be below 2%. Every year, the rate of party members and grassroots party organizations completing their tasks well will be 90% or more; 165 new party members will be admitted. At the same time, improve the quality of cadres and civil servants to meet new requirements; focus on removing difficulties, effectively implementing key tasks, and breakthroughs to promote comprehensive development. Promote digital transformation in management, administration, handling administrative procedures and developing modern agriculture. Create a breakthrough in agriculture, form concentrated production areas, link value chains, consume agricultural products through digital platforms, associated with the development of OCOP products and community tourism services typical of Cu Lao Gieng commune.
