When cafes and tea rooms become art spaces

The space of Aura's Cafe on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street ( Bac Giang Ward) is eye-catchingly decorated. Recently, the cafe has become more bustling when organizing music shows. Next to where customers sit and enjoy drinks is a small, delicately decorated stage. The cafe has the participation of 2 artists playing guitar, organ and a MC and singer, creating unique performances. 3 times a week, Aura's Cafe organizes music nights with themes related to holidays, seasons of the year or special events to attract a wide audience.

This place also often organizes folk art performances such as Hat Van, Ca Tru or Bolero... to serve middle-aged guests. Ms. Phi Thi Thu Huong, the owner, shared: "I want Aura's Cafe to become a place that connects people through melodies and lyrics. Maintaining the operation is quite costly, but my group of friends and I are still determined to bring music closer to everyone."

Many coffee shops and tea rooms in wards and communes such as Vo Cuong, Tu Son, Tan Yen... have also become "cultural meeting places" on weekends. LeLa Cafe (Tan Yen commune) often invites popular young singers, the audience not only gets to listen to "hit" songs but also has the opportunity to interact and take pictures with their idols. At Lamajo Café (Vo Cuong ward), singers and audiences sit close together and chat through music. Nguyen Phuong Linh, a student at Bac Ninh College of Culture, Arts and Tourism, shared: "Coming here, I can listen to music and have the opportunity to stand on stage with friends, feeling comfortable and full of energy."

To make the music night attractive, the owners focus on investing in sound and lighting systems, arranging the space reasonably, and cleverly choosing suitable themes: Sometimes it is a revolutionary music night, love songs that go with the years or the changing seasons or a charity music night...

It can be said that the "small stages" in cafes and tea rooms are breathing new life into the cultural life of Bac Ninh, bringing new experiences and connecting the community. According to Mr. Hoang Lien Son, Head of the Department of Cultural Management (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism), the weekly art programs have created an attractive playground, contributing to enriching the spiritual life of the people. This is a new cultural feature that needs to be encouraged to develop and improve its quality in the coming time.
