Groundbreaking ceremony of the National Historical Site project, the location to establish communication and open the Ho Chi Minh trail

On October 7, the People's Committee of Dong Gia Nghia Ward, Lam Dong Province held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project of the National Historical Site at the location where the Ho Chi Minh Trail was established and opened (from the Central Highlands to the Southeast). This is the location where 65 years ago (October 30, 1960) revolutionary cadres and soldiers established and opened the Ho Chi Minh Trail, from the Southern Central Highlands to the Southeast.

Mr. Ho Van Muoi, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ho Van Muoi, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong province affirmed that this is a special national relic that has been ranked in association with the legendary route, the Ho Chi Minh trail. The fact that revolutionary soldiers established contact and opened the route on October 30, 1960 was extremely important in transporting weapons from the Central Highlands to the Southeast battlefield and the southern provinces. The groundbreaking of the project of the National Historical Relic Site at the location of establishing contact and opening the Ho Chi Minh trail at Cay Xoai hamlet, Dong Gia Nghia ward, Lam Dong province will be a red address in educating revolutionary traditions and national pride for the young generation.

The Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee also requested that investors, contractors and related units focus on human and material resources to implement the project, ensuring completion on schedule and according to the set plan.

Veteran Le Truc Phuong, former Secretary of Dak Nong District Party Committee, spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony.

Mr. Le Truc Phuong, a veteran, former Secretary of the Dak Nong District Party Committee (formerly) representing the veterans affirmed that the opening of the contact point between the Southern Central Highlands and the Southeast at Bon Cay Xoai was a milestone in the resistance war against American imperialism. The North-South strategic corridor section through Dak Nong is a legendary road that has gone down in history and the restoration and commemoration of the fallen heroes and martyrs is the responsibility of the entire political system and today's generations.

According to some veterans, the location for establishing contact and opening the Ho Chi Minh trail at Bon Cay Xoai was previously a dense jungle. In the middle of this area, there were many large mango clusters that were easily seen and recognized from afar, so the revolutionary cadres and soldiers (section B90) chose the largest mango cluster in this area as the contact location. Later, the place name Bon Cay Xoai was established and gradually became a place to educate the younger generation about revolutionary traditions.

Delegates held the groundbreaking ceremony to start the project.

According to the People's Committee of Dong Gia Nghia Ward, the project has a total investment of 62 billion VND. The construction unit is a joint venture between Trung Hoa Construction One Member Limited Liability Company and Nam Viet Dak Nong Limited Liability Company; expected to be completed in mid-2027.
