The conference aims to further deepen the Vietnam-China economic and trade cooperation in the context of the two countries celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1950 - 2025), during the working visit to Vietnam of the delegation of Shandong province (China) led by Mr. Lam Vu, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Shandong Provincial People's Congress (China).

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Truong Thanh Hoai emphasized: Under the strategic guidance of the top leaders of the two Parties and the two States, the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and China has reached a new height when they joined hands to build a "Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of Strategic Significance". In that overall picture, economic and trade cooperation between the two countries also recorded a record when it first reached a scale of 205.2 billion USD in 2024 according to Vietnam's statistics.

According to Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade is proud to not only contribute to the strong development of Vietnam-China economic and trade cooperation but also be one of the agencies actively promoting cooperative relations with important ministries, branches and localities of China. In particular, in that trend, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Provincial Party Committee and People's Government of Shandong Province have established a very good cooperative relationship in recent years.

Notably, the two sides regularly coordinate to exchange information, organize trade and investment promotion delegations, connect trade in Shandong and Vietnam, opening up an effective cooperation playground for the business communities of both sides. Thereby, contributing significantly to promoting economic, trade, industrial and energy cooperation between Vietnamese localities and Shandong province (one of the localities with the largest population, economy, science and technology in China) to develop strongly, in line with the general development trend of the current relationship.

Statistics have clearly demonstrated this when the Vietnam - Shandong trade turnover in 2024 reached a growth rate of 12.5%. Notably, in the first 8 months of 2025, the two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Shandong increased by 18.9%; of which, the export turnover of Vietnamese goods to Shandong increased by 29.4%, making Vietnam the third largest trade partner of Shandong in ASEAN.

It can be affirmed that the potential for economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Shandong province, China is still very large when the trade turnover between Vietnam and Shandong province currently accounts for only 4.5% of the total Vietnam - China trade turnover and 2.5% of Shandong's total foreign trade turnover in 2024. Therefore, this event is very necessary and meaningful, creating opportunities for Vietnamese and Shandong enterprises to strengthen connections and mutual understanding, thereby finding new partners and expanding the market.

"The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade is ready to accompany and support the business communities of both sides in the cooperation process, promote agreements and projects to achieve practical and sustainable results, and actively contribute to the good working relationship between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Shandong Government in particular, as well as the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and China in general," Deputy Minister Truong Thanh Hoai affirmed.

The world today is undergoing rapid, complex and unpredictable changes in geopolitics and geo-economics; especially the recent headwinds to global trade and economy have posed many difficulties and challenges but also brought opportunities for all countries. This requires Vietnam and China to consolidate and strengthen closer cooperation to facilitate economic, trade and investment cooperation activities between the business communities of the two countries; contributing to helping each country's economy minimize the impact and effectively respond to the current difficulties of global trade and economy.

"The Central Strategic Policy Committee has been, is and will continue to advise the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on major strategies, policies and measures to guide ministries, departments, branches and localities to deepen cooperation with international partners," said Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh.
