Kon Tum Department of Education and Training proposed two ways to handle the leak of 10th grade English exam questions, with no re-exam option.
According to the report of Kon Tum Department of Education and Training on June 9, if the results of the exam leak are verified on a small scale, the Department proposes to cancel the results of only the students involved. For the remaining students, the English test scores will still be used for admission to grade 10, along with Math and Literature.
If the exam leak occurs on a large scale, the Department will propose to cancel the exam results of students in the entire province. In this case, the Department will base the admission consideration on the Math and Literature exam scores and the 4-year study results of secondary school.
Previously, on the afternoon of June 2, after the candidates finished the English exam, suspicions of leaked exam questions appeared on social media. The post was accompanied by a photo of the content that was almost identical to the exam questions for this subject.
When the Department worked with the teachers who created the exam questions, one admitted that a student in a home tutoring class had taken a copy of the exam questions from her home printer. The female teacher admitted her mistake but insisted that she had not copied or taken a copy of the questions for her students. The Kon Tum Department of Education and Training then asked the provincial police to investigate and clarify.
The 10th grade public entrance exam in Kon Tum province took place on June 2-4, with more than 6,600 candidates taking the exam.
