Thanh Hoa is a province with a large number of livestock and poultry, which leads to a high demand for veterinary drugs, animal feed, and biological products. Therefore, to protect the rights of livestock farmers, the functional sectors in the province have stepped up inspection, control, and management of veterinary drug trading establishments to promptly eliminate low-quality products, counterfeit goods, and fake goods...
Animal feed business owners always pay attention to checking the origin of products before importing goods.
Animal feed and TTY are products whose quality and effectiveness are difficult to verify compared to the advertisements on the packaging; many agents and businesses, for profit, have mixed in fake, poor quality, and products not on the list of permitted circulation for profit. In addition, in the face of the current situation of high production costs of animal feed, there has been a situation of reducing or not supplementing the main nutrients, leading to products that do not meet standards and quality, affecting the productivity and quality of livestock... Raising animals using poor quality TTY and TTY will affect the quality and weight, and will not be able to prevent and treat diseases, leading to stunted growth and death of livestock. Currently, choosing and distinguishing between real and fake animal feed and TTY, poor quality products is not an easy problem for many farmers, especially small-scale households.
Recognizing the role and importance of veterinary drugs and animal feed for the sustainable development of the livestock industry, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has directed localities to step up propaganda work, raise awareness for agents and establishments in fully implementing the provisions of law when trading and selling veterinary drugs, not trading banned substances... It is recommended that livestock farmers only buy veterinary drugs and animal feed at large establishments, licensed to do business and use products of clear origin. At the same time, the Department has proactively coordinated with relevant departments and branches to strengthen periodic and surprise inspections and checks at production and business establishments, livestock and aquaculture establishments in the area... Take samples of veterinary drugs, supplementary feed, biological products to check quality; recall and destroy poor quality goods, banned goods, smuggled goods, goods not on the list of goods allowed for circulation... and strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate.
At the Tuan Do animal feed business in Quy Loc commune (Yen Dinh), Ms. Trinh Thi Tuan said: “The increase in animal feed prices has caused many agents like us to face many difficulties, especially the increase in selling prices has caused a decrease in product consumption; the distribution time of companies is slow... Although some companies offer poor quality products to reduce selling prices and increase profits, I firmly refuse. In addition, I strictly comply with the commitment signed with the relevant authorities not to trade in drugs that are not on the list, drugs of unknown origin, or expired.”
In the first 6 months of 2024, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine conducted statistics and monitored 435 establishments trading and trading animal feed and animal feed in the province; 100% of the establishments were managed, monitored, and strictly complied with production and business conditions according to regulations. In addition, 52 Certificates of eligibility for animal feed trading were issued; 99 animal feed products of 8 companies were received for conformity declaration dossiers; 3 companies were supervised and maintained for animal feed production conditions. At the same time, 83 animal feed and animal feed trading establishments were inspected; 60 animal feed and animal feed samples were taken for quality testing. From there, 16 animal feed and animal feed trading establishments were detected and punished.
To further improve the effectiveness of management of production and business of veterinary drugs and animal feed in the province, in the last 6 months of 2024, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine will coordinate more closely with relevant units in management, inspection and examination; prevent and strictly handle violations. Along with that, step up propaganda, raise awareness and sense of responsibility of enterprises, establishments producing and trading veterinary drugs and animal feed; organize for owners of establishments to sign a commitment not to trade or trade in drugs not on the permitted list; banned substances. At the same time, increase investment and modernize facilities for sampling, testing, to promptly detect and handle violating establishments. In addition to the drastic participation of State management agencies, livestock farmers also need to proactively improve their professional knowledge, actively implement biosafety farming measures to reduce the amount of veterinary drugs for livestock; Only buy animal feed and animal feed from large, licensed establishments and use products of clear origin to avoid buying fake or poor quality products that cause economic damage and affect the quality of livestock products.
