The whole Vinh Linh district has more than 33,646.95 hectares of forested land, of which natural forest is about 13,143.90 hectares; planted forest is about 20,503.79 hectares. There are two large forest owners: the Ben Hai River Basin Protection Forest Management Board with an area of about 9,320.06 hectares (with forest is 8,895.44 hectares) and Ben Hai Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. about 8,623 hectares (with forest 8,598.27 hectares). The remaining area is managed by the Commune People's Committee, village communities, and households. Planted forests are mainly two species of acacia and pine.
Since the beginning of 2024, Vinh Linh district has increased inspections of key areas where forest fires often occur; reviewed and supplemented forest fire prevention and control plans of units and forest owners according to the provisions of law; had plans to ensure forces, materials, equipment, logistics and was ready to coordinate with forces to respond and handle urgent situations in forest protection and forest fire prevention and control.

Through the inspection, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee of the Provincial Sustainable Forestry Development Program Phan Van Phuoc suggested that, in order to effectively implement forest fire prevention and control in the coming time, Vinh Linh district needs to further strengthen the inspection of key areas where forest fires often occur. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vinh Linh district advised the district People's Committee to proactively inspect forest fire prevention and control of large forest owners, especially forest fire prevention and control in forest areas managed by the People's Committee of communes, village communities, and households...
Particularly for the forest owner, the Ben Hai River Basin Protection Forest Management Board, Ben Hai Forestry One Member Co., Ltd., it is necessary to regularly review and improve the steering committee as well as equipment, means, and related forces to better perform forest fire prevention and control work.
The provincial Forest Protection Department needs to direct forest ranger units to review their forces, vehicles, and equipment to be proactive in forest fire prevention and control; and increase patrols and supervision of forest use conversion.
