On the morning of Sunday, October 12, fellow members of the European Dragons 1976 Association also announced the event “Special charity music night: Towards compatriots in storm and flood areas” which will take place from 7:30 pm to 11:00 pm on October 15 at the Dong Do Event Center (Prague, Czech Republic). This event is organized by the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic.

Rarely is there a music event by Vietnamese people abroad where the time from idea generation to agreement and implementation is only a day, and it takes place in the middle of the week, not the weekend. However, 3 hours after the official announcement, a member of the Organizing Committee said that all VIP tickets (about 120EUR/ticket) had been sold out. At this art event with a clear mission, the Organizing Committee did not call for donations on the spot but decided that all the money collected from ticket sales (after deducting the organization costs) would be transferred to the homeland to help people overcome the consequences of storms and floods.
Since last weekend, many Vietnamese organizations and associations in the Netherlands, Belgium, the UK... have also officially called for and come up with ideas for fundraising events to be most effective and timely. The Vietnamese Business and Entrepreneurs Association in the UK (VBUK) is calling for donations (deadline is October 31) to provide emergency relief in necessities, medical care , home repairs and restore livelihoods for people in flood-affected areas.
Sharing the same spirit, the Vietnamese Women's Association in the Netherlands launched a plan to receive donations from October 6 to October 30. This weekend, coinciding with the celebration of Vietnamese Women's Day October 20, the Vietnamese Women's Association in Belgium under the General Association of Vietnamese in Belgium (UGVB) will organize a fundraising campaign to support flood victims in their homeland. The familiar red heart-painted box with the words "Helping people affected by floods in our homeland Vietnam" is always carried by Ms. Nguyen Phuong - Head of the Community Development Board of UGVB to events that combine volunteer work. The box is transparent, as Ms. Phuong shared with me: "It must be public."
In Prague, Dinh Thi Kim Oanh, Tran Quynh Hoa and their friends and sisters (members of the Vietnamese Association at Sapa Trade Center, participating in launching a fundraising movement to support flood victims in Vietnam) just had a weekend without rest. Thousands of miles away from home, Kim Oanh felt choked up when she watched over and over again the image of a child swimming out to ask for a bottle of oil to rub on her grandmother: "That scene made me wish I could call for more support, sell more tickets for the charity concert to join hands to send back to help my compatriots."
