On June 5, in response to a question from the press about Moscow's information that Kiev had launched a general counter-offensive at five points along the front line in eastern Donetsk, a spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VSU) stated: "We have no such information and we do not comment on any form of fake information."

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Ganna Malyar said the VSU had carried out “some offensive actions on the front line,” but she also downplayed the scale of the offensive. “The Bakhmut area remains the epicenter of hostilities. We are advancing on a fairly wide front. We are achieving some success,” the official said.

Earlier the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the VSU had launched a large-scale attack in Donetsk: “On the morning of June 4, the enemy launched a large-scale offensive in five sectors of the front in the southern direction of Donetsk with the 23rd and 31st mechanized brigades from the VSU strategic reserve, with the support of other military units and groups.”

* On June 5, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly in Kiev and discussed preparations for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Summit, as well as Ukraine's response to Russia's attack. Speaking on Telegram in a video of the meeting, Mr. Zelensky said: "We are very grateful for the support that the UK has given and continues to give to Ukraine."

Earlier, on June 1, on the sidelines of the European Political Community (EPC) summit in Moldova, Mr. Zelensky met with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. This leader expressed his gratitude for London's active support for Kiev in the current conflict.

* CNN (USA) quoted US intelligence sources as saying that Ukraine has created a network of spies and supporters in Russia to receive unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and carry out sabotage attacks.

Specifically, Kiev provided Ukrainian UAVs to these people and there is no evidence that any attacks were carried out using UAVs transferred by the US. In addition, sources also said that Ukraine appears to have transported UAV parts to Russian territory, then assembled and used them.

Washington believes that Kiev's security and intelligence agencies play a major role in directing these forces, such as the attack on the Kremlin in May.

* In an interview with the German media group DW on June 5 while visiting Indonesia, regarding the possibility of supplying fighter jets to Ukraine, Mr. Pistorius said: "Currently, we are in the stage of rethinking and considering what is possible, what we want and can do. I think we will decide on this in the next 2 weeks."

However, he ruled out the possibility of transferring Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine in the near future, after Kiev had officially made an offer to Berlin.

Regarding the possibility of Ukraine using German weapons on Russian territory, he noted that international law allows Ukraine to do so in self-defense. However, the defense official said that Berlin and Washington have always emphasized that they do not want their weapons to cross the Russian border. Mr. Pistorius expressed full trust in his Ukrainian partners.
