Celebrating 60 years of tradition of General High School for the Gifted and receiving noble titles

GD&TĐ - The 15th anniversary of the establishment of the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, the 60th anniversary of the tradition of the General High School and the reception of noble titles were solemnly held.

The 60th anniversary of the tradition of the General High School and the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Natural Science High School was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long , Deputy Minister of Education and Training Le Quan, representatives of leaders of central agencies, ministries, departments and branches, and many generations of students of the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences.

The speech presented by VNU President Hoang Minh Son reviewed the 60-year journey, amidst bombs and bullets of war, at the evacuation area in Thai Nguyen, the first Special Math Class of the General Math Specialization Block with 38 students was officially opened.

This is not only the birth of a pioneering educational model, but also the sowing of the first seeds for a model of " talent training ". From this model, a series of specialized schools and specialized classes across the country were later formed and developed.

Proud that over the past 60 years, the quality of education and training of the school has been increasingly improved, the reputation of the school has been increasingly affirmed, but the identity and spirit of "specializing in Natural Sciences" has always been preserved. That is the common pride of the school, of VNU, and more broadly, of the whole country.

Congratulating the school, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long emphasized that the success of the model demonstrated the strategic orientation and vision of the Party and State in proactively preparing early and remotely for the training of young talents in Mathematics and science and technology; at the same time, it was a historical milestone in the formation and development of the system of specialized high schools nationwide.

The Deputy Prime Minister also acknowledged that over the past 60 years, with the efforts, determination and dedication of generations of teachers and students, the General Science Specialized School "has overcome difficulties and challenges and continuously developed". From having only 1 specialized Math class with 38 students, the school has now developed with 5 specialized classes and more than 1,800 students; the facilities have been invested in to be relatively spacious, clean, beautiful and modern, meeting the needs of teaching and learning.

Many generations of students of the school are excellent in Mathematics, Information Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Artificial Intelligence, winning many medals and awards at national and international levels (winning 79 out of 198 Gold medals nationwide); many generations of students of the General Science - Natural Science School have become excellent scientists, successful businessmen, contributing their efforts and intelligence to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long assigned the task: Entering a new stage of development, our country has opportunities and advantages but also has to face many difficulties and challenges, especially the remarkable advances in science and technology that have had and are having a profound impact on all fields. In that context, training high-quality human resources is identified as one of three strategic breakthroughs, a key factor determining the future development of the country.

The Politburo has issued many important and breakthrough policies, including Resolution No. 57 on science, technology development, innovation and national digital transformation and Resolution No. 71 on education and training development; thereby, continuing to affirm the view that education and training is the top national policy; identifying high-quality human resources and scientific and technological talents as the driving force and competitive advantage of the country.

With many strengths and advantages compared to other specialized high schools and high schools across the country. At the same time, it is the oldest specialized high school with a team of highly qualified, dedicated, creative, and professional teachers; intelligent, diligent, and well-behaved students. With that foundation, in the coming time, the School needs to continue to implement well the proposed development orientations.

It is necessary to strongly innovate the educational model in a broad and deep direction: both creating conditions for many students to access high-quality education and encouraging and nurturing exceptionally excellent students; flexibly integrating parallel activities to educate about the tradition of patriotism, pride, history and culture of the nation; having a high responsibility to the community, being ready to contribute, innovate, dare to think and dare to do in the face of new challenges.

Continue to diversify talent nurturing activities through scientific research, innovation, sports and art activities, career orientation, and focus on personality education for students. Teachers of the school need to continue to promote the glorious 60-year tradition and achievements; always keep the flame of love for the profession; accompany and create a good environment for students to study and practice on the journey to maturity and conquer the peak.

Students should always be proud to study and train at the Natural Science High School; strive, study diligently and practice, prepare for adulthood, start a career, become scientists, doctors, engineers, managers, entrepreneurs, contributing to the development of the country in the new era.

The Ministry of Education and Training, VNU, and the University of Natural Sciences need to research and find solutions to innovate the model of specialized high schools in a broad and deep direction, creating a foundation for the system of specialized high schools to develop; research and develop a project to discover, train, and foster young Vietnamese talents; nurture and train talents from high school to doctoral level;

Prioritize investment of resources and adequate funding to upgrade facilities, learning equipment, laboratories, and functional room systems for the Natural Science High School to be worthy of the No. 1 high school in the country; have mechanisms and policies to recognize and honor teachers and students who have achieved outstanding achievements. - Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long directed.
