Kien Giang chess player honored as young Vietnamese chess talent

Chess player Vu Hoang Gia Bao (left cover) is honored to be one of 30 players honored as young Vietnamese chess talents.

On June 17, chess coach of Kien Giang Sports Training and Competition Center Vo Thanh Ninh said that at the national youth chess championship taking place in Ninh Binh province, the Vietnam Chess Federation honored 30 young Vietnamese chess talents. Kien Giang has chess player Vu Hoang Gia Bao honored this time.

Chess player Vu Hoang Gia Bao, born in 2006, is an athlete who has grown from a gifted player and has contributed many achievements to provincial and national chess in regional, national and international tournaments. Gia Bao is currently a national grandmaster and a member of the Kien Giang provincial chess team.

In 2024, Gia Bao continuously won medals at the national youth chess championship, national championship, national team... Gia Bao also won two gold medals at the 22nd Southeast Asian Open Youth Chess Championship for age groups in 2024 in Laos.

In 2025, Gia Bao continued to leave his mark with a gold medal at the National Team Chess Championship; 3 gold medals at the National Club Chess Championship. Currently, Gia Bao and the provincial team are participating in the National Youth Chess Championship in Ninh Binh ...

Recently, this young player was also awarded the title of Outstanding Young Face of 2024 by Kien Giang Provincial Youth Union.
