La Gi confidently organizes events

The 2023 La Gi Town Open Half Marathon was held in the town in early June, but until now, the town's residents have not forgotten the opening ceremony at Nguyen Hue Park, gathering nearly 1,000 athletes from 13 provinces and cities registered and 790/230 female athletes officially participated.

This is the first time that visitors to the town gathered in such large numbers around a sports tournament and also the first time the town organized a Marathon with 3 distances: 7km, 10km and 21km. Therefore, in the eyes of professional Marathon athletes selected from provinces and cities converging here, La Gi town is a brand new competition place. Therefore, their assessment is the result of comparison from the knowledge accumulated from many other places. That La Gi has wide, clean and beautiful roads, very good for Marathon running, not only on the sparsely populated coastal route but also on the inner-city roads. Because they only stay for 2-3 days, they have the opportunity to discover a La Gi with the ability to expand with infrastructure that is gradually being completed, taking on the stature of a large urban area in the near future.

After the success of the Half Marathon, in October 2023, the town continued to open the La Gi Town Open Cycling Race in 2023, with a distance of 42km, attracting nearly 100 athletes from 18 cycling clubs in Binh Thuan province to participate. This is also the first time the town has organized this sports tournament, so the roads included in the race track in the town challenged the racers and opened up many surprises, when the participants, who more or less passed through La Gi, also realized the very rapid change.

In fact, in just the past 2-3 years, in addition to the projects invested by the province in the area, La Gi has also mobilized the town and provincial budget to focus on urban beautification. Not new investments but mostly repairing, upgrading, and expanding a series of existing roads, so all of these projects have the same investment and construction goal. That is to extend the life of the project, ensure traffic safety; synchronously upgrade the urban traffic system in the town, increasingly better serve the travel needs of the people, contribute to promoting socio -economic development, and improve the beauty. And this year, thanks to a series of traffic works included in the medium-term public investment for the period 2021 - 2025 but completed early, another value has been created through the success of the above sports tournaments.

Not only roads, other infrastructures focusing on cultural institutions that create diversity and richness, while also exuding the stature of La Gi urban area have also been formed. Specifically demonstrated through other sports tournaments that the town organizes during the National Tourism Year 2023 "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence". That is the 2023 La Gi town men's and women's beach volleyball tournament held on October 24, 2023 with nearly 50 athletes from 15 units inside and outside La Gi town participating. That is the organization of the La Gi town tennis tournament at Dat Lanh Resort tennis court in La Gi town with more than 20 athletes participating. That is the Badminton tournament on the occasion of the September 2nd holiday with 60 athletes participating.

Not only that, with Nguyen Hue Park, the project was repaired and upgraded from 2021 to create green space, serve entertainment needs, contribute to enhancing the beauty of the urban landscape and other needs of the town's people, in 2023, it has also fully developed its functions as planned. The successful arrangement, location planning, and selection of venues for the above sports tournaments show that the town has a team that is starting to get used to organizing events. This is also demonstrated through the organization of the 2023 Dinh Thay Thim Traditional - Cultural - Tourism Festival, which took place from October 28 to 30, 2023, which was very popular and attracted many people from other places to watch the Festival Opening Ceremony, which was broadcast live. During the 3 days of the festival, the town organized all the traditional rituals and at the same time implemented many festival activities, such as: Cake making contest, Tug of war contest, Netting contest, Fish carrying contest, Basket carrying contest, Bird singing contest, Chinese chess performance; games of blindfolded duck catching, blindfolded pot smashing, dragon fruit harvesting, etc. to serve tourists visiting Dinh Thay Thim and the people of Tam Tan village.

In addition, 3 art performances were organized for 3 nights to serve tourists, performed by artists from Ho Chi Minh City and the Blue Sea Song and Dance Troupe. All of these raised the level of the festival, attracting about 30,000 visitors to visit and pay homage to Thay Thim Palace and were also worthy of being the content that the Town People's Committee registered with the Provincial People's Committee to respond to the National Tourism Year 2023, "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence". From here, it contributed to increasing the number of visitors to the town in 2023 to an estimated 275,000, an increase of 19,200 over the same period with a revenue of about 170.8 billion VND.

According to the People's Committee of La Gi town, the sports tournaments and cultural activities that the town successfully implemented in response to the National Tourism Year 2023 "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence" have contributed to promoting tourism and promoting the image of La Gi town to tourists. Thereby, it also contributes to enriching the town's sports and physical training movement, and exchanging and learning with other localities. And more than that, this is like a successful trial period that helps the town be more confident in organizing similar or larger-scale events when the town's infrastructure is complete.
