First opening of revolutionary relic Co Ci bunker

Located in Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the Cryptographic Tunnel, which once kept the information flow of the General Staff during the resistance war against America, was opened for the first time.

The revolutionary relic of the Cipher Tunnel - General Staff Headquarters in the Thang Long Imperial Citadel heritage site opened to visitors for the first time.

The project started on February 10, 1966, completed on June 30 of the same year, with an area of ​​over 37 square meters. The bunker plays a particularly important role, helping the General Headquarters of the Vietnam People's Army maintain direction, management, and command of the military branches and fronts in the conditions when Hanoi was attacked by the US Air Force. The bunker was used most in December 1972 - the time when the US Air Force attacked Hanoi and Hai Phong most fiercely.

The entrance to the cellar is a staircase with an iron handrail. The cellar was restored with respect and without interfering with the original monument.

The doors and frames are made of solid iron at the two entrances to the basement.

Ventilation room, toxic filter, clean filter, natural ventilation. The ventilation system ensures the necessary amount of air when closed, prevents toxic vapors from penetrating from the outside and air from leaking from the inside, creating excess pressure inside the fortification.

Gravel wave exhaust room. Ventilation system includes: Gravel wave exhaust room, fine dust filter, toxic filter, toxic release lock, fan, air adjustment louver, sound absorber, flow meter, automatic exhaust door and gravel wave exhaust room.

The cellar consists of two separate rooms with connecting doors and a ceiling about 2 m high.

The rooms are displaying many artifacts related to the period of the war against America.

The tunnel has an entrance and an exit 50 meters apart. The Cryptographic Tunnel is open to visitors as part of a series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, September 2.
