ChatGPT's business usage rate drops for first time since launch

According to a new report from US security software company Netskope, the percentage of organizations using ChatGPT has dropped from 80% (February 2025) to 78%. This is also the only AI platform that recorded a decline in the first half of this year.

The report, based on anonymized data from 3,500 Netskope customers, tracked the use of 317 AI apps and chatbots.

Experts say the decline reflects a trend of organizations moving toward AI tools that are more deeply integrated into existing work ecosystems, such as Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini. These platforms have been integrated into Microsoft 365, GitHub, or Google's office tools, making the workflow more convenient and synchronized.

Overall, however, ChatGPT remains the most used AI chatbot, with 78% of businesses adopting it, compared to 55% using Google Gemini and 37% using Microsoft Copilot.

The report also predicts that by the end of 2025, 90% of businesses will require employees to directly use AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Copilot in their daily work.

Other AI platforms that are also attracting interest from companies are Claude (Anthropic), Perplexity AI, Spellcheck AI Grammarly, and Gamma AI - a tool that specializes in supporting PowerPoint creation using AI.

However, as AI becomes increasingly integrated into work, the report warns of data security risks. Because AI chatbots are often used to summarize text, process big data or source code, users may inadvertently share sensitive information or intellectual property when sending reminders or uploading documents to the platform.

By 2025, the average amount of data companies will send to AI chatbots will be 7.7 GB per month, a 30-fold increase from 250 MB per month in 2024. This rapid growth has experts concerned about the risk of leaking, disclosing, or mishandling sensitive information.
