On the morning of November 5, the Ministry of Justice organized a discussion on the Press and Vietnam Law Day to promote communication of Vietnam Law Day to ministries, branches, agencies and localities to implement it in many forms and in specific and practical ways.
Actively promote and spread the message of General Secretary To Lam
In his opening speech at the seminar, Deputy Director of the Department of Legal Dissemination and Education (Ministry of Justice) Phan Hong Nguyen said that according to Article 8 of the Law on Legal Dissemination and Education 2012, November 9th of each year is the Law Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (Vietnam Law Day). November 9th is also the day the first Constitution was adopted - the 1946 Constitution. Vietnam Law Day is held to honor the Constitution and laws, educate people in society about the rule of law, and contribute to promoting the slogan "Living and working according to the Constitution and laws".
Thereby, creating a habit of voluntarily implementing and behaving according to the law and building a legal culture in the whole society, meeting the requirements of building a socialist rule-of-law state of the people, by the people, for the people, a Vietnamese society of rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilization.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Legal Dissemination and Education Phan Hong Nguyen, 2024 is the 12th year of implementing Vietnam Law Day. Up to now, Law Day has been implemented by ministries and local branches in many forms and specific and practical ways. This is also a broad political and legal activity, serving as a basis for focused, key, effective and practical implementation of political and professional tasks of ministries and local branches, making practical contributions to the common achievements of the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
To improve the effectiveness of policy communication, Deputy Director of the Department of Dissemination and Legal Education Phan Hong Nguyen suggested that press agencies actively participate in propaganda, have in-depth articles, and spread the message of General Secretary To Lam on innovation in thinking in building and enforcing laws, in the direction of transforming the thinking of building laws, both ensuring the requirements of state management and encouraging creativity, liberating all productive forces, and unleashing all resources for development.
Timely communication of draft laws considered and approved by the National Assembly
Speaking at the seminar, Deputy Director of the Press Department (Ministry of Information and Communications) Dang Khac Loi said that in recent times, key press agencies such as Vietnam News Agency, Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam, etc. have done a good job in communicating, educating, and disseminating the law. In the coming time, press agencies need to strengthen digital transformation, closely coordinate with the Ministry of Justice to communicate about the law, and promptly inform about draft laws being considered and approved by the National Assembly at the ongoing 8th Session.
According to Deputy General Director of Vietnam News Agency Doan Thi Tuyet Nhung, Vietnam News Agency has organized many activities in response to Vietnam Law Day 2024, such as organizing the contest "Learning about civil servants and public employees' laws in 2024" online, increasing both the number of participants and the number of exams with many correct answers. At the same time, building columns and specialized pages to propagate and disseminate legal education, promptly informing about draft laws, new legal policies and policies, helping to orient public opinion and create consensus among the people.
At the seminar, representatives of ministries, branches, and press agencies exchanged and discussed information, orientations, communication, and implementation of activities in response to Vietnam Law Day; highly appreciated the launching and implementation of Vietnam Law Day annually by the Ministry of Justice and proposed ways and solutions to improve communication activities on policies and draft laws passed by the National Assembly. In addition, they shared and discussed some needs for information on new policies of press agencies for ministries and branches in charge of drafting laws; information and orientations for communication and dissemination of laws considered and passed by the National Assembly at the 8th Session.
