Lao Cai needs more than 1,900 contract teachers for the new school year.

GD&TĐ - The Lao Cai Department of Education and Training plans to contract 1,915 teachers for the 2025-2026 school year, reflecting the pressure of a shortage of human resources.

Pursuant to Official Dispatch No. 1638/UBND-NC dated August 27, 2025 of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Education and Training of Lao Cai announced the need for contracts for nearly 2,000 teachers for the new school year. This is considered a temporary solution while waiting for official recruitment according to job positions.

According to the plan, the expected number of contracts includes 242 kindergarten teachers, 532 primary school teachers, 849 secondary school teachers and 292 high school teachers. At the primary level, the greatest need is for cultural teachers (278), followed by English (124) and IT (62). At the secondary level, there is a shortage of many subjects such as Math (125), Literature (112), English (92) and IT (68). High school level also needs to add Math (51), Literature (44), English (34) and many other subjects.

The shortage of teachers is posing a big challenge to Lao Cai education , especially when implementing the 2018 General Education Program, which requires a workforce with diverse expertise. The signing of contracts for nearly 2,000 teachers shows the province's determination to ensure a stable educational scale, meeting the learning needs of more than 200,000 students in the area.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Lao Cai province, this unit will receive registration documents to participate in the contract at two locations: the Department of Personnel Organization, Department of Education and Training of Lao Cai (No. 1141, Yen Ninh Street, Yen Bai Ward, Lao Cai Province) and the Office of the Department of Education and Training in the old Lao Cai (Headquarters of Block IV, 30/4 Street, Cam Duong Ward, Lao Cai Province). The reception time is divided into two phases: phase 1 from August 28, 2025 to September 10, 2025; phase 2 starting from September 11, 2025.

• Kindergarten: 242
• Primary school: 532 (including 278 teachers of culture, 124 English, 62 IT, the rest are gifted subjects)
• Secondary School: 849 (Math 125, Literature 112, English 92, Computer Science 68, and many other subjects)
• High School: 292 (Math 51, Literature 44, English 34, along with science and talent subjects)
