Impact of storm No. 10: Lao Cai Electricity focuses all efforts on overcoming problems after the storm

As of 7:00 p.m. on September 30, 2025, Lao Cai Power Company (PC Lao Cai) has restored power to 34,259 out of 84,909 customers affected by the power grid failure after storm No. 10. In the conditions of serious landslides and isolation, electricity workers are still at the scene, working every hour to bring electricity back to serve people's daily life and production.

Storm No. 10 has caused severe damage to the power system in the mountainous districts. As of 3:00 p.m. on September 30, 2025, due to the consecutive impact of storms No. 9 and No. 10, the power system in Lao Cai province has recorded serious damage. A total of 753 transformer stations were affected, causing power outages for 84,909 customers across the province. Of these, power supply has been restored to 13,383 customers, while the remaining 71,526 customers are being urgently handled by the electricity sector in conditions of heavy rain, landslides and traffic disruption in many places.

As soon as the storm subsided, PC Lao Cai quickly activated the Company-level natural disaster prevention plan, mobilizing all shock troops from affiliated units, dividing into many groups to approach the scene, assess the damage and organize emergency handling. Many working teams had to walk for kilometers, carrying equipment across slippery, flooded terrain to re-erect poles, pull wires, and partially connect electricity. Many incident points were deep in the forest, so the working teams had to use flashlights, GPS devices and support equipment to move at night. The work required a high sense of responsibility, close coordination and always put safety first.

Not only the power system was affected, the flood also flooded the headquarters of some units under PC Lao Cai such as: Van Yen Power Company, Tran Yen Power Company. The functional departments organized internal repairs while ensuring the operation of communication and incident handling continuously, without interruption.

PC Lao Cai has been prioritizing the restoration of electricity to concentrated residential areas, hospitals, schools, and pumping stations serving agriculture ; at the same time, closely coordinating with local authorities and traffic management units to open temporary roads and bring in mechanical equipment for construction. The company also continuously issues recommendations to ensure electrical safety, requesting people to absolutely not approach the scene without safety confirmation from the electricity industry.

While the entire system was straining to respond locally, on the afternoon of September 29, right before the most severe impact occurred in Lao Cai, PC Lao Cai promptly dispatched a shock team to support Nghe An Power Company under the direction of the Northern Power Corporation. This shows the spirit of readiness to "share the burden" and support each other among units in the industry, even though they themselves are still facing numerous difficulties.

It is expected that in the coming days, if the weather is favorable and traffic is smooth, PC Lao Cai will continue to speed up progress, striving to soon completely restore the power system across the province.
