Hanoi High School for Natural Sciences organized two trial exams, while Hanoi High School for Foreign Languages organized three, for candidates to test their abilities before the official exam in June.
The High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences , Vietnam National University, Hanoi, on December 25 announced the schedule for the 10th grade entrance exam. The first round of exams will take place on January 20-21, 2024, with subjects including General Mathematics, Literature, Specialized Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
Except for the Literature test which combines multiple choice and essay questions, the remaining subjects are written. The general exam lasts 120 minutes, and the specialized exam lasts 150 minutes. The exam structure and time are similar to the official school exam.
The school opens registration from now until January 9, the fee is 150,000 VND per subject.
The second round of exams is scheduled to take place on March 9 and 10, 2024. The school has not announced the registration time for this round.

Previously, the Foreign Language High School (University of Foreign Languages, Hanoi National University) also announced the 10th grade mock exam schedule with three sessions, taking place directly on January 21, March 10 and May 5.
The exam subjects include Foreign Language Proficiency Assessment (multiple choice and essay, 90 minutes), Mathematics and Natural Sciences (multiple choice, 55 minutes), Literature and Social Sciences (multiple choice and essay, 55 minutes).
In the first two rounds, the school only organized English mock tests, but in the last round, there were full English, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean tests.

The official exams for both schools usually take place in early June.
In previous years, the number of candidates applying to the Natural Science Specialized School was about 3,000, competing for 540 places in the Math, Physics, and Chemistry specialized classes. The Foreign Language Specialized School usually had about 4,000 candidates applying, while the quota was 500, in 7 specialized classes (English, Russian, French, Chinese, German, Japanese, Korean).
