Currently, the province has 1,498 cooperative groups (26,173 members) and 612 cooperatives (35,018 members), of which 484 are agricultural cooperatives , accounting for 80%. In addition, Ca Mau has 5 cooperative unions, mainly operating in providing services, input products and consuming output products in rice and aquatic production.
To date, the province has 343 recognized OCOP products (266 3-star products, 75 4-star products, 2 5-star products). Of which, 53 cooperatives have 129 products achieving OCOP from 3 stars or higher. Products increasingly focus on quality, packaging, labels, traceability, meeting market demand. In addition to traditional consumption channels, many cooperatives have expanded online sales through Postmart, Voso, Shopee, Lazada, along with promotion on Facebook, Zalo, TikTok, fairs and trade promotion activities.
Ms. Cao Ngoc Hang, Director of Bac Lieu Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative No. 1, said that the Cooperative will open a booth to display Ca Mau OCOP products to promote and expand the market and hopes to connect and share experiences with other cooperatives.
Ms. Tran Xuan Oanh, representative of Truc Thuong Cooperative, expressed her hope that the Provincial Cooperative Union and other cooperatives would create conditions for Ca Mau OCOP products to reach large markets inside and outside the province, aiming for sustainable and stable consumption.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nghi, Deputy Director of the Provincial Center for Industrial Promotion and Trade Promotion, acknowledged the efforts of cooperatives and pledged to support, facilitate access to capital, expand market linkages, and improve product quality.
At the conference, representatives of cooperatives introduced their operations and key OCOP products, and expressed their desire to connect, exchange, link production, expand markets, and aim for exports. Cooperatives also proposed to be facilitated to borrow capital from the Cooperative Development Support Fund to invest in expanding production and innovating technology. In addition, they hoped that the Provincial Cooperative Union would continue to promote its role as a bridge, helping cooperatives strengthen links with businesses in input supply and output consumption, through direct introduction activities and organizing networking meetings.
