During the investigation, the investigation force ensured absolute safety of personnel, weapons, and equipment. The Border Guard Command directed units to coordinate with functional forces to prosecute the case, expand the investigation, consolidate files, documents, and evidence to handle the subject according to regulations.

Previously, in early March 2024, the specialized force in charge of fighting against drugs and crimes of the Quang Tri Border Guard discovered a drug trafficking and transportation ring from Laos into the border area of ​​Quang Tri province and deep into our country for consumption.

Quang Tri Border Guard has presided over the establishment of Project QT324 and was approved by the Border Guard Commander, as a basis for fighting and eliminating transnational drug crime rings.

Based on the nature of the case, the Quang Tri Border Guard has requested the following units: Central Region Drug and Crime Prevention Task Force, PC04 Department (Quang Tri Provincial Police) and Quang Tri Provincial Customs Department to coordinate in fighting Project QT324.

After a long period of implementing professional measures, at 5:30 p.m. on March 30, at Km73+200, National Highway 9, in Lang Vay village, Tan Long commune, Huong Hoa district, the Border Guard of Quang Tri province presided over and coordinated with functional forces to detect and arrest 5 Lao subjects for illegally transporting drugs.

The seized evidence included 100 kg of synthetic drugs and a Toyota car with Laotian license plate 6689. Expanding the investigation, the authorities arrested four more Laotian women hiding in Khe Sanh town, Huong Hoa district.

Through investigation, the subjects confessed that they were hired by a Lao man residing in Vientiane to transport 100 kg of crystal meth from Laos to Vietnam to deliver to a Vietnamese subject in Dong Ha city, Quang Tri province.
