Excluding human causes of fire at parking lot under Vinh Tuy bridge

Regarding the fire that occurred at the parking lot in the area of ​​T2 pillar of Vinh Tuy bridge (Hong Ha ward, Hanoi), on September 7, Hanoi City Police informed about the initial investigation results.

On August 30, at around 1 p.m., after receiving the news, the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police force urgently deployed forces and vehicles to coordinate with the Ward Police and the Environmental Company to organize fire fighting.

By 1:45 p.m., the fire was completely extinguished, with no casualties. The fire covered an area of ​​about 300 square meters, with property damage of over 500 motorbikes of various types.

The City Police Investigation Agency has taken witness statements, checked cameras around the parking lot area; requested the Institute of Criminal Science of the Ministry of Public Security to examine the scene, determine the cause of the fire, and the starting point of the fire.

Regarding the cause of the fire, human causes are ruled out. The Institute of Criminal Science is currently conducting an examination to determine the exact cause.

The fire started 4.3m from the foot of pillar T2 and 1.8m from the 5m side road.

The City Police coordinated with the Department of Construction to conduct a preliminary assessment of the impact caused by the fire on the piers and girders of Vinh Tuy Bridge; support to ensure safety for vehicles traveling on the bridge; assess the quality of concrete, steel, etc. to assess the impact, make recommendations related to the fire; conduct statistics and appraise the value of damaged vehicles and structures.

Currently, the Investigation Police Agency - Hanoi City Police continues to coordinate with relevant agencies to verify and clarify the cause and damage of the fire as well as the responsibilities of related individuals and organizations. The City Police will continue to inform about the results of the investigation and verification when there is a conclusion.
