Rice, crops and aquatic products suffered heavy damage in the Northeastern provinces.

Storm No. 3 is a special storm, forming east of the Philippines but strengthening into a super typhoon in the East Sea and is the strongest storm in the East Sea in the past 30 years. The strongest wind near the storm center is level 16, gusting over level 17; when making landfall in Quang Ninh - Hai Phong, the strongest wind is level 13-14, gusting to level 16-17.

The storm and strong winds flooded and damaged 121,500 hectares of rice and crops; damaged 5,027 hectares of fruit trees; and damaged and swept away more than 1,000 aquaculture cages.

In Quang Ninh , when storm No. 3 made landfall, the strongest wind near the storm center was level 12-13 with gusts of level 16, causing thousands of trees to break and fall. Many agencies, units, schools, and hospitals in the province had structures damaged.

According to statistics, the whole province has more than 1,000 oyster cages and rafts lost or swept away; 336 hectares of rice were collapsed or flooded. Many high-rise buildings, agency headquarters, and schools in the localities were damaged; in the localities, 2,083 houses had their roofs blown off; 6 water transport vehicles, 1 tourist boat, and 18 fishing boats of various types were sunk or drifted.

In Hai Phong City, in terms of agriculture, about 5,000 hectares of flowering rice were damaged, 1,750 hectares of vegetables were severely affected, 1,000 hectares of fruit trees were severely affected, 400 hectares of flowers and ornamental plants were affected. The damage was very large and could not be accurately and detailedly assessed or counted.

Nam Dinh province is one of the localities directly affected by storm No. 3 (storm Yagi). Accordingly, during the storm's landing (from about 1:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on September 7), in the sea of ​​Nam Dinh province, there will be strong winds of level 9-10, gusts of level 12-13, and rough seas; on land, there will be strong winds of level 7-8, gusts of level 9-10, accompanied by rain.

To proactively respond to storms and heavy rains caused by storm No. 3, to ensure safety of life and minimize property damage, the Provincial People's Committee has requested agencies and units to focus on directing and implementing strictly the tasks of storm and flood prevention at the highest level.

However, due to heavy rain and strong gusts, many areas of rice, crops, and aquaculture are still affected.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Tran Anh Dung, Standing Vice Chairman of Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee, said that storm No. 3 damaged 5,000 hectares of rice; 230 hectares of flower crops, 130 hectares of summer-autumn corn; 20 hectares of catfish, 220 hectares of intensive shrimp farming; thousands of shade trees were knocked down...

Fields in Nghia Binh commune (Nghia Hung district) were flooded after storm No. 3.

At Hai Dien Aquaculture Cooperative (Con town, Hai Hau district), Chairman of the Board of Directors Nguyen Van Binh informed that before the storm, the Cooperative had 12.5 hectares of aquaculture, including 4 tons of American red snapper, 2 tons of shrimp, and 6 tons of snails. For meat fish alone, the current market price is about 100,000 VND/kg.

The storm, accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds, caused ponds to overflow and damaged production equipment, with estimated damage being very large.

The leader of Giao Thuy District People's Committee (Nam Dinh) said that the whole district had 200 hectares of aquaculture flooded, of which 2 shrimp ponds died; 58 hectares of crops flooded, the flooded rice area is still being counted. The authorities have pumped water to help people resume production soon.

The People's Committee of Nam Dinh province has requested sectors, districts and cities to focus on overcoming the consequences caused by storm No. 3; firstly, draining water in flooded areas to ensure agricultural production; focusing on repairing infrastructure; repairing to ensure the uninterrupted power grid system serving production and people's daily life.

In Hai Duong province, about 10,000 hectares of rice were damaged in agricultural production; about 1,600 hectares of vegetables were crushed and more than 600 hectares of fruit trees were broken and felled. Initial damage was estimated at about 150 billion VND.

In Thai Binh province, storm No. 3 caused heavy damage in the agricultural sector. Of which, 28,000 hectares of rice were damaged from 30-70%; 27,000 hectares were damaged over 70%. Regarding newly planted winter vegetables and unharvested summer-autumn vegetables, 585 hectares were affected from 30-70%; 2,760 hectares were affected over 70%. 1,215 hectares of fruit trees were affected from 30-70%; 170 hectares were affected over 70%. The area of ​​flooded rice was 18,000 hectares. The situation of dike works, landslides in some locations of embankments, river banks, seashores and some intra-field canals.

Thai Binh province said the total initial damage was estimated at about 2,000 billion VND.
