Mang Den's infrastructure and services are gradually improving.
On August 5, Mr. Nguyen Nhat Truong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Mang Den Commune, Quang Ngai Province (formerly Kon Plong District, Kon Tum Province) said that up to now, Mang Den Eco-tourism Area has 143 accommodation establishments with a total of 1,280 rooms, which can serve about 6,000 visitors every day and night.

In addition to the seven recognized tourist attractions, Mang Den also has two effective community tourism villages, Kon Pring and Vi Ro Ngheo, creating a highlight for visitors to experience local culture. Two new models, Kon Chenh coffee village and Kon Vong Kia village, are also being formed with the goal of deeply exploiting national identity.
In 2024, Mang Den will welcome about 1.2 million visitors, and it is expected that in 2025 it will reach 1.56 million. However, during peak seasons such as summer or Tet, the problem of accommodation infrastructure is still a big "bottleneck". Many tourists have to book rooms a month in advance, and even have to camp overnight because there is no place to stay.
Land of great development potential
Located at an altitude of more than 1,200 m above sea level, Mang Den has a temperate climate all year round, cool natural forests, poetic waterfalls and wildflowers blooming all year round. In addition, there is a rich cultural treasure of indigenous ethnic minorities, ideal factors for developing eco-tourism, resorts, high-tech agriculture and community tourism.
Thanks to its year-round temperate climate, Mang Den has become a "common home" for many species of flowers blooming all year round.

At the Mang Den Commune Party Congress on July 15, Mr. Huynh Quoc Huy, Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee, said that Mang Den has been identified as the development center of the western part of the province. In particular, the Prime Minister's approval of the Master Plan for the construction of Mang Den Tourist Area until 2045 has created a solid legal corridor, paving the way for the locality to develop into a national and regional eco-tourism center.
"Large infrastructure projects such as highways, airports and large-scale urban areas that are being and will be implemented will be a strong driving force to promote the socio-economic development of the Mang Den region," said Mr. Huy.
According to the 2025 - 2030 term plan, Mang Den aims to have no more poor households by 2030, with an average income of 95 million VND/person/year and a total production value of more than 12,300 billion VND. In particular, tourism is identified as a key economic sector, with the target of attracting 2.5 million visitors per year.

To realize this goal, the locality is preparing to implement three large urban projects (including urban areas No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5) with a total area of over 700 hectares, a population of about 50,000 people, and a total expected investment capital of up to VND 26,500 billion.
Mr. Nguyen Nhat Truong said that these urban areas will integrate modern functions including sports, health care, commerce, industry and tourism. It is expected that by October 2025, the investment invitation documents will be completed, legal procedures will be completed by February 2026 and infrastructure construction will begin in the fourth quarter of the same year.
At the same time, Mang Den will continue to develop a system of small and medium-sized accommodation, encouraging individual investors and tourism start-up businesses. Models such as Mang Den market, night economic zone, and art garden are also being promoted to enhance the experience and retain tourists longer.
Combining agriculture and tourism for a refreshing experience
Not only a tourist destination, Mang Den is also known for its cold-climate vegetables, specialty coffee and rare medicinal herbs. Currently, the whole region has 42 cooperatives with a total capital of nearly 200 billion VND, participating in the production and consumption chain of products, closely linking agriculture and tourism.

The "experiential agriculture" model is being tested at a number of farms, allowing tourists to directly participate in harvesting agricultural products and learn how to process coffee on the spot. This is considered an effective way to increase tourism value, especially for groups of families, students and nature lovers.
Mang Den is also investing in building a 30-hectare theme park, developing a walking street, expanding the night market and diversifying nighttime entertainment to keep up with modern tourism trends.
Mang Den, known as the “land of peach blossoms” of the Central Highlands, is gradually transforming from a peaceful town into a national tourist city. The journey is not without challenges, but with its outstanding natural potential, unique cultural identity and methodical investment strategy, Mang Den can absolutely rise to become a “new star” on the eco-tourism map of Vietnam and the region.
