According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the low pressure area in the West is developing and expanding to the Southeast.

On May 16, the western mountainous region from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen will have hot weather with the highest temperature of 35-37 degrees, some places over 38 degrees; the lowest relative humidity of 45-60%. The Northern Delta, Southern Son La, Hoa Binh and Southern regions will have hot weather with the highest temperature of 35-36 degrees, some places over 36 degrees; the lowest relative humidity of 45-65%.

From May 17, in the Northwest and from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen, the heat will be more intense with the highest temperature of 35-38 degrees Celsius, in some places over 39 degrees Celsius; the lowest relative humidity is 40-55%.

In the Northeast region, the heat is milder, with the highest level of 35-37 degrees, some places above 37 degrees; the lowest relative humidity is 45-60%.

In addition, the South is still experiencing hot days with temperatures of 35-36 degrees, some places above 36 degrees; the lowest relative humidity is 45-65%.

The meteorological agency forecasts that from May 18 to 23, the Northwest and from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen will continue to experience hot and harsh weather, maintaining temperatures of 36-38 degrees, with some places reaching over 39 degrees.

On May 18, in the Northeast, the temperature will also increase to 35-37 degrees, some places over 38 degrees. And from May 21-23, the heat will continue to be intense. Particularly from the night of May 18-20, in the mountainous areas in the late afternoon and at night, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms; in the plains, there will be localized heat.

The heat wave is mainly concentrated between 11am and 5pm. Meteorological experts warn that due to the effects of heat waves combined with low humidity and southwest winds causing the foehn effect, there is a risk of explosions and fires in residential areas due to increased demand for electricity and the risk of forest fires.

In addition, heat can also cause dehydration, exhaustion, and heat stroke in the human body when exposed to high temperatures for a long time.

For the South, from May 18, the heat will gradually ease. From May 18-25, in the afternoon and evening there will be showers and scattered thunderstorms, with some areas having moderate to heavy rain.
