On her journey to connect cultures in the Latin American region, Miss Thanh Thuy – Miss International 2024, has just arrived in Guatemala and started her visit with volunteer activities at FUNDAL (Fundación Guatemalteca para Niños con Sordoceguera Alex) – Guatemalan Fund for children with hearing impairment, visual impairment and multiple disabilities.
Accompanying Miss Thanh Thuy in the charity activity at FUNDAL are Miss International 2024 1st Runner-up from Bolivia, and Miss International Guatemala 2024. The activity brings a spirit of connection that reflects the true spirit of Miss International.
Thanh Thuy and the beauty queens participated in activities with disabled children in the labor integration program with baking activities - part of the vocational training program and training of independent skills for the children. The activity not only shared but also demonstrated respect and equality for all circumstances.
In particular, Miss Thanh Thuy experienced simulating the lives of deaf and blind children by being blindfolded and silent, using only touch and intuition to communicate and move.

This experience helped her feel more deeply about the difficulties the children were facing, and at the same time convey a message of understanding and empathy: “While blindfolded, everyone around didn't say anything, and Thuy just waited to be led. They let Thuy touch the railing to feel her way down. At that time, there was a lot of noise around, Thuy felt very scared, only feeling the sunlight and wind, the rest was completely vague. "
“Through this experience, Thuy felt a part of the life of the blind children. Thuy was really moved when she understood the difficulties in their daily activities without sight. Thuy was also very touched and appreciated the affection of the staff here, who are silently supporting and caring for them so that they can study, grow up and live like normal people. For Thuy, this was an extremely meaningful experience in Guatemala,” Thanh Thuy shared.
In addition, she also learned and practiced basic sign language to be able to communicate with the children, showing respect and a desire to connect directly with the deaf.
Miss Thanh Thuy's trip to Guatemala is part of a series of international activities of the Miss International 2024 organization, with outstanding events such as cultural exchanges, meetings with the media, cooperation with educational organizations and community development./.
FUNDAL is an organization in Guatemala that was founded to support children with hearing loss, visual impairment, and other diverse developmental challenges, who are often denied the opportunity to reach their full potential and participate fully in society.
