Ho Chi Minh City's Tax Department has just announced a list of 1,890 businesses and individuals owing taxes and state budget revenues, totaling more than VND2,408 billion as of the end of August.

Topping the list of tax debts (rounded numbers) is Viet Han Saigon Construction Trading - Service Company Limited with 467 billion VND; Yen Khanh Group Corporation owes 246 billion VND; NRC Group Corporation owes 126 billion VND; Cai Mep Investment Corporation owes 88 billion VND; Danh Khoi Viet Real Estate Corporation owes 66 billion VND...

Notably, the above list also includes many individuals with large tax debts.

For example, Ms. Vo Thi Ngoc Phuong (address at 88 Dong Khoi, Saigon ward) owes more than 158.9 billion VND; Mr. Lam Phuoc Hai (80 Dong Du, Saigon ward) owes more than 23.2 billion VND; Ms. Ho Thi Lai (Sai ​​Gon ward) owes more than 941 million VND...

Tax base 1 said that the reason for publicizing the above list is because the businesses and individuals violated the provisions at Point a, Clause 1, Article 100 of the Tax Administration Law No. 38/2019/QH14 and Point g, Clause 1, Article 29 of Decree No. 126/2020/ND-CP dated October 19, 2020.

Accordingly, tax authorities are allowed to publicize taxpayer information in the following cases: Tax evasion, delay in paying taxes and other state budget revenues on time; and tax debts and other state budget revenues.

In addition, the authorities are allowed to publicly disclose information about taxpayers if more than 90 days have passed since the deadline for paying taxes and other revenues to the State budget, or the deadline for implementing administrative decisions on tax management, but the taxpayer or guarantor does not voluntarily comply.

From July 1, the Tax Department of Region II was renamed Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department with 29 affiliated tax offices in the area, including Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong province and Ba Ria - Vung Tau before.

Base Tax 1 has its headquarters located in Tan Dinh ward (HCMC), its management area includes: Tan Dinh ward, Ben Thanh ward, Saigon ward, Cau Ong Lanh ward.

Vietnamese people who go abroad for work only to find out they owe taxes will be banned from entering the country. Delaying exit is only to prevent citizens from leaving Vietnam before fulfilling their financial responsibilities, and does not affect their right to enter the country.
