Seize the opportunity to start a business

Mr. Tran Tan Anh, owner of Thao Vy garage, Thanh My A area, Cai Rang ward, Can Tho city, opened a motorbike washing service to increase his daily income.

Born into a farming family, Tan Anh dreamed of becoming an auto mechanic. In 2010, after finishing 9th grade, he left his hometown to go to the city to learn a trade. Tan Anh confided: “When I went to Ho Chi Minh City to learn a trade, my parents were very worried. Sometimes I felt sad, but I was determined to learn the trade well before returning home to start a business.”

Not wasting his time, Mr. Tan Anh was lucky to meet a good teacher who taught him enthusiastically about auto repair. Passionate and eager to learn, he quickly mastered the profession and became a car interior repair specialist. In 2019, Mr. Tan Anh returned to his hometown to get married and start a business. At first, he used his savings to buy a truck to transport goods for hire, in order to save money to open an auto repair shop. Thanks to the advantage of his house being located on a commercial route connecting wards and communes in Can Tho city, and with additional capital support from his family, he boldly leveled a large area and opened a truck and car parking service, with a capacity of over 10 vehicles.

In 2022, with the loan from the Social Policy Bank and family support, Mr. Tan Anh upgraded the factory, purchased necessary equipment, opened a car beauty and refurbishment service. To attract customers, he posted on social networks and asked friends and acquaintances to introduce services, promotions, and prices. He said: "Currently, there are many types of car parts and accessories. After receiving requests from car owners to refurbish and replace car parts and equipment, I provided further advice on popular designs and models and ordered them in Ho Chi Minh City."

According to Mr. Tan Anh, to stay and develop the profession, the most important thing is understanding, reputation in transactions, quality equipment, reasonable prices and satisfactory customer care policies. Depending on customer needs, car refurbishment prices range from 30-80 million VND. In 2024, to meet customer needs, Mr. Tan Anh hired workers to open additional motorbike and car washing services to increase income.

Mr. Tan Anh is nurturing many plans to develop car refurbishment and repair services; upgrade the land behind his house to expand car parking services; purchase equipment to provide vocational training and create jobs...

“I will always focus on improving the quality of customer care and balancing reasonable prices. With the service motto of “please customers when they come, please customers when they go”, I see that it brings efficiency in business. Currently, I really need attention, support and conditions to develop my career in my hometown” - Tan Anh confided.
