Improving gender equality knowledge for people in Project 8 implementation areas

From September 23-29, the Provincial Women's Union organized training and communication to improve gender equality knowledge for more than 1,300 people at 5 Project 8 steering points including Dang Kang, Dak Lieng, M'Drak, Ea Nuol and Ea Knop communes.

Accordingly, in each commune, the Association has implemented activities including: Communication conferences to raise awareness on preventing child abuse with participants being the branch president, vice president, members, women and people from ethnic minority areas.

Thereby, providing information on the situation of violence and child abuse that has been and is happening in the area, directly affecting women and children, especially ethnic minority women and children; equipping some essential skills in identifying and preventing plots and tricks of violence and abuse to ensure the safety of women and children in the localities.

At the training conference to improve knowledge on gender equality, women's cadres, branch heads, village elders, village leaders, and prestigious people in the localities were given an overview of gender equality and current legal regulations; the role of village elders, village leaders, and prestigious people in promoting gender equality and preventing domestic violence. At the same time, they discussed and shared experiences and solutions to overcome difficulties in implementing gender equality in the locality.

This is an activity within the framework of Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" in 2025 implemented by the Provincial Women's Union, contributing to raising awareness of all levels, sectors and people in ethnic minority and mountainous areas about gender equality in order to gradually change behavior, eliminate gender stereotypes and gender prejudices; promote gender mainstreaming in implementing local socio -economic development tasks.
