Improve the quality of buses serving students

Following the direction of the province, agencies, units and transport enterprises have recently focused on implementing many solutions to improve the quality of bus services, including targeting students.

At 5:35 a.m. on September 9, many students were present very early at Bus Station No. 1 (opposite Dong Nai University of Technology, Trang Dai Ward) to catch the bus to school. Tran Quang Huy (residing in Quarter 4B, Trang Dai Ward) said: "I am currently a 10th grader at Ngo Quyen High School. Lately, I have been going to school by bus every day, which is much cheaper than going by motorbike and I no longer have to waste time picking up and dropping off my parents. Moreover, taking the bus helps me save time to review my lessons and read books on the way to school."

Ms. Ngo Ngoc Thuy Anh, in charge of bus route No. 1 (Tri Minh Phat Company Limited) said: Bus No. 1 runs the route from Dong Nai University of Technology - Vung Tau intersection (and vice versa) with a length of about 17km. This route passes through roads with many schools such as: Trang Dai Secondary School, Bui Thi Xuan Primary - Secondary - High School, Tran Hung Dao Secondary School, Ngo Quyen High School, Nam Ha High School...

According to Ms. Thuy Anh, recently, the company has focused on implementing many solutions to improve the quality of passenger service by regularly repairing and upgrading the quality of vehicles. At the same time, thoroughly educating the team of drivers and service staff to enthusiastically support passengers. The company also implemented a program to reduce monthly ticket prices by up to 25% to attract people to take the bus. Passengers who buy monthly tickets (a stack of 100 tickets for 500,000 VND) will receive a discount of 125,000 VND and can use the tickets until they run out without being bound by time. "Currently, our company is registering to extend the route to Mien Dong Bus Station ( Ho Chi Minh City) to meet the increasing travel needs of people" - Ms. Thuy Anh shared.

Currently, bus route No. 1 has 10 vehicles (8 active vehicles and 2 reserve vehicles) with a frequency of 80 trips/day and has about 700-800 passengers per day; of which the number of students accounts for 70%”.

Efforts to improve the quality of public transport

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan (In charge of operating bus route No. 2, Hoang Ha Tourism Services Company Limited) said: Bus No. 2 runs from Bien Hoa Bus Station - Nhon Trach Bus Station (and vice versa) with a length of about 42km. The special feature of this route is that it is subsidized by the State and passes through routes with many schools such as: Tran Hung Dao Secondary School, Ngo Quyen High School, Dong Nai Technical College, Dong Nai University... so many students use bus route No. 2 for convenient travel and cost savings. Bus route No. 2 currently has 14 vehicles (12 operating vehicles and 2 reserve vehicles) with a frequency of 80 trips/day and has about 3,000 passengers per day, of which about 800 are students. The ticket price for students is only 5,000 VND/ticket. In addition, if students want to register for a monthly ticket, the company will reduce the price by 25%.

Dong Nai province currently has 20 bus routes, of which 5 are subsidized (routes 1, 2, 3, 7, 8). Subsidized routes are playing a pivotal role in the public passenger transport network, helping to reduce travel costs, limit personal vehicles, and reduce traffic congestion and accidents.

To better serve the travel needs of people in general and students in particular, the agencies and functional units of Dong Nai province have been making efforts to implement many synchronous solutions to innovate and improve the quality of public transport activities, including buses. Specifically, the Provincial People's Committee recently implemented a plan for the Peak Traffic Safety Month for students going to school in the 2025-2026 school year.

The provincial leaders have assigned specific tasks to relevant departments, branches, sectors and units to strengthen coordination in implementing synchronous and drastic solutions to ensure absolute safety and convenience for students going to school. In particular, the Provincial Police directed its affiliated units to deploy measures to ensure traffic safety and order in school areas, avoiding traffic insecurity and traffic congestion. The police force also coordinated with the education sector to strengthen propaganda and instruct students on safe traffic participation skills; directed its affiliated forces to strengthen inspection and handling of violations of traffic safety and order in school areas according to their authority; handle violations of traffic safety and order laws for high school students, combined with handling of acts of handing over vehicles or allowing unqualified people to drive vehicles; at the same time, promptly inform schools about cases of student violations to have appropriate forms of education, reminders and handling...
