Tet flower prices should be publicly listed so that there will be no more situations of buyers forcing down prices and sellers destroying them.

The prices listed publicly at the Tet flower market will help buyers feel satisfied because they can buy beautiful and early flowers.

Every Tet holiday, the eternal question of whether or not to buy flowers on the 30th of Tet is a hot topic on social networks.

How can we make both buyers and sellers happy and not fall into the same old refrain: on the afternoon of the 30th, traders destroy flowers so they don't sell them cheaply, while some buyers wait until the flower market closes to force down prices?

The following is a share from reader Dai Lam sent to Tuoi Tre Online about this story.

Public prices, both buyers and sellers are happy

Last year, on December 11, an online seller who is my "regular customer" posted on Facebook accepting orders for 95-110cm sized raspberry chrysanthemums, priced at 125,000 VND/pot.

Specific conditions: the shop owner does not ship, customers must come and pick up themselves or book a car to pick them up. After only 3 days, the number of orders reached a number that the shop owner himself admitted was "huge", "counting the orders and feeling excited": 500 orders!

The goods arrived later than expected due to many objective reasons, but the owner was smiling because there were no extra flower pots, even a shortage.

Many customers ordered but the goods were not available, making the shop owner angry and having to import more goods to have enough to deliver to customers.

My family has a tradition of displaying chrysanthemums during Tet and usually buys flowers around December 20, so we placed an order even though we had never seen or touched the flower pots in person like in previous years.

I am a regular customer of the shop owner so I completely trust the seller's reputation and am not afraid of getting into a situation where the delivered goods are not as advertised.

Moreover, since the flowers were received on December 15th, if you are not satisfied, you still have time to buy new flowers at the spring flower market.

Having prepared myself in that spirit, I was very happy to receive a beautiful pot of chrysanthemums as I wished, with even buds and beautiful yellow flowers. Many other customers also happily shared pictures of the flowers they received with the shop owner with compliments, and the buyers and sellers chatted animatedly.

The prices are public and reasonable, so even though it's not the 15th of December yet, customers are ready to buy. They don't book in advance, but when they see something beautiful, they buy it right away, no one haggles.

The buyer was pleased because he bought beautiful and early flowers, and the seller was also happy because the goods were sold out so quickly that the customer was angry. Any shop owner would be happy to have a customer angry like this. Both the seller and the buyer were as happy as if it was Tet!

High price challenge, more harm than good

Flowers are a part of creating the colors and atmosphere of Tet for each family and neighborhood. If economic conditions are not too tight, every family tries to buy a pot of flowers that fits their budget, at least to make the children happy.

For flower growers, the Tet flower season is an opportunity to bring in good income because of the high purchasing power and the comfortable psychology of buyers because "It's Tet!".

Both growers and flower sellers want to sell all their flowers at a profitable price so they can get them home in time for New Year's Eve. Buyers want to buy beautiful flowers at reasonable prices.

The online flower market is bustling early, before the traditional spring flower market opens, and there is basically no problem with high prices or low prices.

If traditional spring flower markets still keep the old way of selling: not publicizing prices, asking high prices for customers to bargain, I'm afraid it will be difficult to compete with online markets.

The market is a place where buyers and sellers are equal, no one gives anything for free.

Therefore, if there is no change soon, I am afraid that the traditional spring flower market will fall into a state of decline and lack of customers like many other traditional markets that are struggling today.

Please don't blame buyers for waiting until the last minute to buy flowers to get a lower price because not all buyers have a lot of money and buy without looking at the price.

Sharing the hardships of flower growers and flower traders who have to work hard to have a prosperous Tet, however, if prices are public and reasonable, the flower market will sell out soon, the whole village will be happy, and everyone will have Tet!
