VnExpressVnExpress30/03/2024

Russia released video of Iskander ballistic missiles attacking the area believed to be the assembly point of the 32nd Ukrainian Mechanized Brigade in Kharkov.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced on March 30 that it had discovered the location and restored combat strength of the 32nd Ukrainian Mechanized Brigade in Kharkiv province. The exact time and location were not disclosed, but geographic comparison data showed that the target of the attack was near the city of Chuguev, about 50 km from the border with Russia.

"The decision to carry out the attack was made immediately after the UAV crew transmitted the coordinates to the command post. Two Iskander tactical ballistic missiles completely destroyed the target," the Russian military said.

Video released by Russian defense television shows a camp and several vehicles in the middle of a forest. Two large flames erupted in the middle of the camp and part of the forest, causing a series of fires. The extent of casualties and damage to equipment in the incident is unknown.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced on the same day that it conducted a large-scale raid and 57 coordinated strikes against Ukraine from March 23-30, using many types of high-precision long-range weapons, including Zircon and Kinzhal hypersonic missiles.

"The targets were defense industry corporations, decision-making centers of the Ukrainian military and intelligence, factories producing unmanned suicide boats, ammunition depots, gas stations, air defense and energy infrastructure, and bases of Ukrainian special forces and foreign mercenaries. The series of raids completed the set requirements, all designated targets were hit," the agency said.

Ukrainian officials have not commented on the information.

The 32nd Brigade, established in early 2023, is one of nine Ukrainian brigades being trained by NATO to participate in a large-scale counteroffensive operation in the summer. The unit is expected to be equipped with 10 Czech T-72EA main battle tanks and 90 US-made MaxxPro mine-resistant armored vehicles.

However, the 32nd Brigade was later only equipped with T-64BV tanks and old M113 armored vehicles and deployed on the Lugansk front, instead of participating in Ukraine's main counterattacks in Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk, before withdrawing to the rear.
