According to the Central Power Corporation, recently there have been many people impersonating power company employees to scam people.
These people often call or text via Zalo or SMS to notify people of problems with their electricity bills such as: overdue, large debt, or technical errors in the system... asking people to pay their electricity bills immediately, otherwise the electricity will be cut off.
They use caller ID spoofing technology so that the phone number appears as the official phone number of the electricity company to increase the reliability of the call and make the victim easily trust; or provide bank account numbers, fake links, payment QR codes designed with the logo of the Electricity industry for people to access and make payments. If people enter bank account information, OTP codes, or personal information, their money and information will be stolen.
Faced with the above situation, Phu Yen Electricity Company affirms that the Electricity industry does not collect money via Zalo and SMS messages, and warns people not to pay electricity bills via these channels, but only through methods recognized by the electricity company such as banking applications, e-wallets, and the Electricity industry's customer service app. In case of doubt about a call or message, contact the electricity company immediately to confirm the information before making the requested payment.
