Foreign Minister Park Jin stressed that the Yoon Suk Yeol administration believes in the good prospects for relations between Seoul and Beijing based on mutual respect and mutual benefit.
Mr. Park Jin announced this information in the context of Korea-China relations gradually heating up due to the controversial statement of Chinese Ambassador to Korea Xing Haiming last week. The Korean government then sternly reminded Mr. Xing Haiming and affirmed that the Chinese Ambassador will have to bear full responsibility for any bad consequences that arise in the future.
On the same day, Chairman of South Korea's main opposition Democratic Party (DP), Lee Jae Myung, also expressed concern about the country's rapidly deteriorating relations with Russia and China.
Speaking at an event marking the 23rd anniversary of the first Inter-Korean Summit, Mr. Lee Jae Myung affirmed that South Korea's economic and security interests will develop in a bad direction if it does not maintain good relations with Beijing and Moscow.
South Korea-Russia relations also saw some friction, after President Yoon Suk Yeol proposed changing the country's policy, which had previously only provided non-lethal aid to Ukraine.
