People of My Hoa Hung commune voluntarily handed over a rare land turtle.

On October 21, Deputy Head of the Mobile Forest Ranger and Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting Team, An Giang Provincial Forest Ranger Department Nguyen Tan Phong said that people had just handed over a large land turtle weighing 2.8 kg.

Mr. Huynh Tuan Kiet (residing in My An 2 hamlet, My Hoa Hung commune, An Giang province) said that he caught a large land turtle in an empty lot near his house. Knowing that this land turtle is a rare animal that is a priority for protection, he reported to the local authorities and voluntarily submitted a request to hand it over to the An Giang Provincial Forest Protection Department.

After receiving the turtle, the An Giang Provincial Forest Protection Department handed over the turtle to the Hon Me Wildlife Rescue Station, Hon Dat Commune for care and health monitoring. After inspection, the authorities will have a plan to release it back into the wild according to regulations...
