The area where the incident occurred is located right at the river intersection, the water flow is strong, causing many difficulties for the rescue work. However, with a sense of responsibility, the An Bien Commune Police, the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Team of U Minh Thuong area were on duty, expanding the search area, dividing into many directions along the two canals, and by this afternoon, the child's body was found on the Xeo Ro canal, about 1.3km from the scene towards Cai Lon river.
Currently, the authorities are carrying out the necessary procedures and handing over the child's body to the family for funeral arrangements according to regulations.
Previously, on the morning of October 20, Ms. Le Thi Kieu (26 years old, residing in Hamlet 2, An Bien Commune ( An Giang Province) woke up and discovered that her 4-month-old son was missing. Ms. Kieu's family's house is a stilt house, built along the Xeo Ro canal, so they suspected that the baby might have fallen into the canal. Upon receiving the report, An Bien Commune Police coordinated with the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of the U Minh Thuong area to mobilize divers and specialized vehicles to urgently carry out the search.
