(NLDO) – In the 2024-2025 school year, the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Promotion of Education awarded scholarships to more than 300 students in difficult circumstances with a total amount of more than 1.6 billion VND.
On the morning of October 27, the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Promotion of Education organized the Traditional Day of Promotion of Education, and awarded the Talent Promotion Scholarship - 1&1 Scholarship for the 2024-2025 school year to 318 students with difficult circumstances who have excelled in their studies.
On this occasion, 77 students received the Talent Encouragement Scholarship - 1&1 Scholarship for the first time.
Looking back on the 24-year journey of accompanying students to overcome difficulties, Mr. Ho Phu Bac, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Promoting Education, said that up to now, the Talent Promotion Scholarship has supported 2,789 students with a total amount of more than 27 billion VND.
"This scholarship also has a more affectionate name, "1&1 scholarship". The scholarship is implemented in a way that a benefactor (individual or organization) sponsors a student. Notably, this support process will last throughout the university process" - Mr. Bac said.
According to Mr. Bac, this is a very humane scholarship. Because most of the benefactors who are supporting and helping students were students who received support from this scholarship fund in previous years.
City leaders awarded laurel wreaths to excellent and meritorious graduates.
On this occasion, 77 students received scholarships for the first time. Of these, 9 students are from poor households, 39 students are from families that encourage learning and have registered to study, 3 students are Chinese... 241 students continue to receive scholarships for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th times.
Giving the bouquet of flowers to his benefactor, Do Minh Tri expressed his emotional thanks. Tri is currently a student at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City. Orphaned and having to struggle for life alone, the student has never been discouraged.
"We can't choose where we were born, but we can choose how we live. Even though my family's circumstances are difficult, I won't let them make me give up" - Tri determined.
Having received support from the scholarship fund, now becoming a benefactor, Mr. Nguyen Khanh Dang believes that it is his responsibility to welcome juniors to follow.
"I once received the 1&1 scholarship, I understand how meaningful this scholarship is. Although I am not rich, I want to continue this noble tradition, helping disadvantaged students have the opportunity to go to university" - Mr. Dang shared.
Student Minh Tri gave flowers and thanked benefactor Nguyen Khanh Dang.
Immediately after, Mr. Khanh Dang gave the bouquet of flowers to Ms. Le Minh Ngoc, former Permanent Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Promoting Education. Ms. Ngoc was the person who supported Mr. Dang during his difficult student days.
The 1&1 scholarship has been highly appreciated by the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education and awarded the national scholarship for promoting education with its initiative and successful organization, the model of the 1&1 scholarship program for Promoting Talent.
At the ceremony, Associate Professor - Dr. Truong Thi Hien, Vice President of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, hopes that after Ho Chi Minh City, other provinces will also implement the scholarship model "the predecessors welcome the successors" so that all students have the opportunity to go to the lecture hall to realize their dreams.
