The 'fire keeper' of education and training of erring students at Reformatory School No. 3

TPO - During the 75-year journey of building, fighting and growing up of the Prison Police force, many officers and soldiers have left their mark with practical, creative and humane actions. One of those typical examples is Senior Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Ngoc Linh, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Principal of Reformatory School No. 3 (Hoa Vang Commune, Da Nang City).

Dedicated to education

Born into a family with a tradition of education, Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Ngoc Linh was deeply influenced by his father - Mr. Huynh Tan, a teacher in the People's Public Security force, who spent his whole life at Reformatory School No. 3. Since childhood, Lieutenant Colonel Linh studied and lived with the students here, witnessing firsthand the care and dedicated teaching of his parents for the children. It was these experiences that nurtured in him the dream of following his father's example.

Initially, Linh studied pedagogy, after graduating he taught at a school in Da Nang . But then, by chance, he returned to the same school his father was attached to, becoming a teacher and later an administrator.

From the podium, the young teacher quickly asserted his professional capacity with many innovations in teaching, actively researching new methods to help students absorb more easily. With many consecutive years of winning the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level, Lieutenant Colonel Linh is not only a good teacher but also an exemplary party member, dedicated to all tasks.

Nguyen Van Tu, a student in team 7, said that teacher Linh is a dedicated, kind teacher, always ready to accompany and listen. “During the practice sessions, many students were still confused and made mistakes in techniques, but the teacher never scolded them. He gently demonstrated, held our hands, and enthusiastically guided us step by step. He is very close, always listens and encourages us to study hard so that we can have skills and come back to help our families. Sometimes he is strict, but that helps us grow up and become more responsible,” Tu shared.

Lieutenant Colonel Linh is always dedicated, ready to accompany and listen to the children.

For Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Ngoc Linh, the greatest success does not lie in titles or medals, but in the positive changes in each student's life. Each student entering the school has different circumstances, some are orphans, have no place to rely on; some have had to struggle early because of family difficulties and lost their way; some are lured by friends and lack the attention of relatives, so they fall into the path of breaking the law. The common point is that they are all very young, immature and vulnerable.

“Understanding the disadvantages of students, I always consider them as my own children and grandchildren. Here, they are not only taught to read and write, but also listened to, shared with, and compensated for their lack of affection. It is this care that has helped many students gradually regain their confidence, know how to be good, nurture their dreams for the future, and become more mature, have a career in hand, and be ready to return to society with a new mindset,” said Lieutenant Colonel Linh.

Not only devoted to education, he also left his mark in Party work. With more than 5 years in the position of Deputy Secretary and Chairman of the Party Committee's Inspection Commission, he has always adhered to the motto "setting an example - taking the lead - making changes", focusing on ideological work, organizing thematic activities, launching a movement to study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in a practical way. In management, he cares about training young cadres, listening to their thoughts and aspirations to promptly resolve difficulties, creating a democratic working environment while still maintaining discipline and order.

Innovate methods, create a humane educational environment

With a professional qualification in the field of Investigation Police, a Master's degree in Criminology and Crime Prevention, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Ngoc Linh has effectively applied his knowledge to practical work. He is the initiator and developer of many creative models such as "Model Classroom", "Safe Student Team"... In particular, he always attaches importance to career guidance and vocational training, considering this the key to helping students have a more solid foundation when returning to the community.

Lieutenant Colonel Linh and the school have implemented many active educational methods, combining cultural teaching with life skills training, psychological counseling and vocational training. Students participate in green classes, open libraries, cultural playgrounds, and learn vocational skills suitable to local practical needs such as construction, welding, motorbike repair, animal husbandry, farming, especially acacia seedling cultivation. Thanks to that, students not only acquire knowledge but also practice their personality and independent skills.

The AH1 and AH7 acacia nursery model brings economic efficiency and improves students' lives.

The highlight is the initiative to improve the vocational training model associated with agricultural practices. Based on the characteristics of the majority of students being ethnic minorities, with low education levels and short study time, he and the Board of Directors proposed to focus on practical occupations. In particular, the model of growing acacia varieties AH1 and AH7 helps shorten the growing time from 5 years to 4 years, providing millions of seedlings to people each year, bringing both economic efficiency and improving the lives of students.

In addition, he also expanded connections with social organizations and volunteer units to implement psychological counseling programs, material support, and career guidance for students in difficult circumstances. That dedication has spread the humane spirit, turning Reformatory School No. 3 into a real home, where students regain their faith and aspirations.

Lieutenant Colonel Dang Tri Dung - Deputy Principal in charge of Reformatory School No. 3 said that Comrade Huynh Ngoc Linh has made many outstanding contributions, successfully completing assigned tasks, especially in advising on building resolutions and plans for school leaders as well as in the field of education and union activities. He has actively contributed to the Youth Union and youth movement of the unit as well as Emulation Cluster No. 5, Youth Committee V26, Ministry of Public Security. He was awarded the "For the Young Generation" commemorative medal by the Central Youth Union; the Ministry of Public Security and other levels have awarded him many certificates of merit.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Dung, comrade Linh possesses all the moral qualities according to the 6 teachings of Uncle Ho to the People's Public Security, especially loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland, the Public Security Forces and the People. After nearly 24 years of working in many fields, up to now in a management position, he has always maintained his ideological stance, ready to receive and complete all tasks well. He clearly defines the role of a teacher, a party member and a People's Public Security soldier, from which he strives to contribute, train, and be worthy of being a shining example for colleagues and students to follow.
