Although not successful in the team event, the Vietnamese table tennis team played explosively in the individual event at the 2024 Southeast Asian Table Tennis Championship which ended today (November 24) in Thailand with the gold medal of Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh.

The Vietnamese table tennis team won the right to enter 4 finals in the men's singles (Nguyen Anh Tu), women's singles (Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh), men's doubles (Nguyen Duc Tuan/Doan Ba Tuan Anh), and women's team Mai Hoang My Trang/Nguyen Thi Nga. However, only Ho Chi Minh City player Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh had the full joy of winning the championship.

In the final, the reigning Vietnamese women's singles champion, Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh, defeated Tee Ai Xin (Malaysia) with a convincing score of 4-0. There were 3 Malaysian players who qualified for the semi-finals, but Dieu Khanh successfully defeated each of her opponents to take the top spot.
In the men's singles, Nguyen Anh Tu unfortunately lost 3-4 to Choong Javen (Malaysia) in the final and received a silver medal. Mai Hoang My Trang/Nguyen Thi Nga also lost in the women's doubles final to Karen/Xin (Malaysia) and received a silver medal. In the men's doubles final, Nguyen Duc Tuan/Doan Ba Tuan Anh lost to Javen/Qishen (Malaysia) and also finished second.

The 2024 Southeast Asian Table Tennis Championship attracts most of the strong teams in the region such as Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam... to participate. However, the number 1 team in the region, Singapore, does not bring the strongest force to the tournament, thus opening up competitive opportunities for the remaining players.
