Vu Thi Trang follows Thuy Linh into round 2 of the 2025 World Badminton Championships

In the opening match, Vu Thi Trang (ranked 172nd in the world ) had an impressive performance when defeating Yevheniia Kantemyr, a young Ukrainian tennis player ranked 127th in women's singles and 24th in women's doubles in the world.

Set 1 was full of tension as the two players continuously chased for points. At the decisive moment when the score was tied at 20-20, Vu Thi Trang's bravery was shown at the right time. She scored 2 consecutive points to close the set with a 22-20 victory.

With the psychological advantage, the Vietnamese player played with great enthusiasm in the second set. She quickly overwhelmed her opponent, scored consecutive points and won 21-8, thereby closing the match with a final score of 2-0 (22-20, 21-8). This victory showed Vu Thi Trang's experience and tenacity against a young, ambitious opponent.

In the second round, Vu Thi Trang will face Gao Fang Jie (China) - the 14th seed and also a tennis player who has been in the world's top 20 for many years. Although this is a big challenge, Vietnamese fans still expect Trang to continue to show resilience and bring surprises.

Previously, Nguyen Thuy Linh had excellently eliminated world No. 10 player Ratchanok Intanon (Thailand) after 44 minutes of competition in round 1, contributing to creating a favorable start for the Vietnamese team at this year's tournament.
