2025 World Chess Champion Lai Ly Huynh said that his belief and desire to win helped him reach the pinnacle of glory right at Shanghai Bund (China), the cradle of the world chess village.

Today (September 28), Vietnam's No. 1 chess player, the 2025 world standard chess champion Lai Ly Huynh returned home to the welcome of his family. "For me, this is an amazing achievement because I won the world championship on my daughter's first birthday and also my wife's birthday. A very special coincidence that I will never forget," Lai Ly Huynh shared.

Emotions still overflowing, Lai Ly Huynh said: "Each of us has a lucky star by our side, I sowed in it the belief, the desire to win and that lucky star shone, leading to success". Looking back at the final match with 20-year-old talent Doan Thang of host China, Lai Ly Huynh said he put everything aside to play "the chess game of his life", seeing the final match as a friendly match to relieve pressure. "The opponent opened well but did not develop, missed 2 important moves. In reality, in real chess, there are times when the athlete is under pressure, cannot control everything, not to mention the pressure of time. I successfully took advantage of the opportunity to win", Lai Ly Huynh said.

Sharing about his upcoming goals, Vietnam's number 1 chess player Lai Ly Huynh said: "Right now, I have in mind that I am not yet a champion so that I can continue to strive for future goals, including the goal of defending the throne."
