In the early 60s of the 20th century, Artist Tan Nhan was an excellent actress of the Central Song and Dance Troupe. In addition to solo singing, she also often sang in the Central Song and Dance Troupe's female choir - a very special female troupe that played the zither and sang (including artists Ngoc Dau, Thien Nga, Chung Khue, Mai Lan, Chu Tu, Hoang Anh, Tan Nhan, Dam Ngoc, Thanh Huyen, Phuong Thao, Hong Quang...) performing at home and abroad with many very good songs, including the composition of a very young musician from the South: the song "Qua song" by musician Pham Minh Tuan, musician of the Liberation Art Troupe.
That year, Pham Minh Tuan was only 21 years old, every night he played the guitar and sang on the Southern battlefield to serve the soldiers and people in the resistance war. Perhaps this was also his first composition, but it was very good, touching the hearts of people, once sung it quickly conquered the singer, conquered the listener. In the North during those years, everyone knew the song “Crossing the River”, many people even knew the song by heart.
62 years have passed, musician Pham Minh Tuan is now 82 years old, he still does not forget the people who sang “Qua song” in those days, the days when the country was still divided into two regions and shrouded in the smoke of war. Recently, he sent music lovers the song “Hanh quan nghe o hat Xa khoi” to give to Artist Tan Nhan and to give to the artists whom he did not know but for many years sang his songs “Qua song”, then “Bai ca nguoi nu tu ve Sai Gon”... in the North and many other countries.

The song “Hanh quan nghe o hat Xa khoi” was written from the heart of the musician for the singer, so it touched people's hearts and received the response of many music lovers. Poet Le Thieu Nhon, Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper wrote: “Musician Pham Minh Tuan is 80 years old this year, very famous for the songs “Dat Nu”, “Bai ca khong quen”, “Bai ca nu tu va Sai Gon”, “Thanh pho tinh tinh yeu va noi nho”, “Mua xuan tu nguong duong duong duong”, “Mua xuan tu ngan dau” (Spring from the oil wells), “Khat vong”... and has held many positions such as Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Information, Vice President of the Vietnam Musicians Association.
In the atmosphere of the 2021 National Cultural Conference, musician Pham Minh Tuan composed the song "Marching to listen to the song Xa Khoi" to commemorate singer Tan Nhan (1932-2008). Although the song is titled: "Respectfully offering incense to the soul of Meritorious Artist Tan Nhan", it is not only dedicated to the singer who successfully performed the song "Xa Khoi" by musician Nguyen Tai Tue, but also to pay tribute to revolutionary artists who contributed to the cause of national liberation.
The song “Marching to hear the girls sing Far Away” recreates the resistance situation: “The road at night is cold, mosquitoes and leeches lurk everywhere in the wild forest. I feel so sorry for the young men going to battle. Heading to the South, where their homeland is. Marching at lightning speed, their sandals worn out by the rocky soil of Truong Son. I feel so sorry for the troops on the march. Heading to the South, the girls sing Far Away”.

The song “Far Out” by Meritorious Artist Tan Nhan encouraged the spirit of the frontline and the rear throughout the years of bombs and bullets of war. Musician Pham Minh Tuan wrote: “In the battlefield, artillery roared like hungry tigers. The troops lay in wait for the signal to cross the deep river. On the border, deep and steep abysses, malaria in the forest made their hair fall and their skin turn yellow. In the rear, the village was burning, my heart suddenly felt a secret longing for the lullaby. I walked on the road late at night, my stomach was hungry, craving for a piece of cassava sugar and a bowl of corn rice. I walked on the winding road and lost my way, my feet cut through the forest, my eyes tired, waiting for the morning star. My homeland was bright with sunshine, facing the South, the girl sang “Far Out”.
The song “Hanh quan nghe o hat Xa khoi” is not the first work that musician Pham Minh Tuan composed to praise artists who devoted themselves to the cause of national unification. Previously, musician Pham Minh Tuan composed the song “Tieng hat cuoc doi van bay tren cao” based on the poem by Vien Phuong, to give to People’s Artist Quoc Huong (1920-1987).
Like “Marching to hear the distant singing”, the song “The song of life still flies high” contains the affection and respect of musician Pham Minh Tuan for his colleague: “You have gone, the road is far and wide. Spring wind blows, leaves fall outside the window. I vaguely hear the echo of singing, tears flow out. Tears flow out, held tightly in the bottom of my heart... There is death that can never be lost. We will never be far from each other”.

Artist Quoc Huong, Artist Tan Nhan, the female choir artists of the Central Song and Dance Troupe, Voice of Vietnam ... in Pham Minh Tuan's music are extremely beautiful and touching. Through that, people understand more about the great love, the love of resistance, the love of colleagues, the love of artists along with the great talent of the musician of the era Pham Minh Tuan.
