On National Day of Drug Prevention and Control June 26: Fighting and preventing drug crimes

Lieutenant Colonel Trinh Van Phu, Deputy Head of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, Provincial Police, said: "In recent times, the situation of drug crimes and violations of drug laws in the province has been fiercely fought and effectively controlled, so there are no more painful and complicated drug activity spots and hotspots. However, with the characteristics of a large area, large population, geographical location directly adjacent to key drug areas in the country and Hua Phan province (Laos), with 213.6km of border, affected by the situation of drug trafficking and transportation in the Golden Triangle area, the situation of drug crimes and drug abuse in the province still has many potential complex factors."

The methods and tricks of drug trafficking and illegal transportation are increasingly closed, mainly through blood relations within the family, relatives, and close disciples. In addition to the common and traditional methods, there is now a situation where drug criminals use high technology, they trade on the internet, through social networking applications such as Facebook, Zalo, Viber... and pay through bank accounts not in the names of the subjects.

Faced with the above situation, the provincial police force has proactively grasped the situation, advised the Party Committee and the government to step up the work of preventing and combating drug-related crimes; advised the Provincial Police Department to direct and deploy plans and solutions to effectively combat drug-related crimes in the area. In addition, the police force has coordinated with functional forces to proactively exchange information and documents to serve the work of preventing, combating and handling drug crime lines, subjects and hotspots operating between provinces and across countries; continuously launched high-point campaigns to attack and suppress drug crimes and social evils.

On the other hand, the organization grasps the situation of the subjects and makes records to send them to educational facilities, reform schools, compulsory drug rehabilitation, reducing the risk and factors of crime... In addition, the police force strengthens the State management of security and order. Actively coordinates with relevant forces to conduct inspections and strictly manage karaoke businesses, accommodation services, motels, guesthouses, rental houses... to prevent subjects from taking advantage to carry out acts of storing and organizing illegal use of drugs. The police force in the province also coordinates with branches and organizations in the area to effectively implement the drug rehabilitation project at home and in the community; widely launching the movement "All people protect national security" associated with organizing officials, civil servants, public employees, members, union members and people to sign commitments; manage and educate husbands, children, and family members not to commit crimes and social evils related to drugs.

In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, the drug prevention and control force of Thanh Hoa province discovered, arrested, and handled 180 cases, 417 criminals, drug law violators; eradicated 6 major drug trafficking and transportation rings, operating between districts, provinces, and across countries. Of which, the police force discovered and handled 175 cases, 410 subjects; eradicated 6 drug rings, 1 complex drug risk point; seized 386g of heroin, 8,000 synthetic drug pills. Typically, on April 17, 2025, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, Provincial Police, eradicated an inter-provincial drug trafficking ring led by Nguyen Ba Khanh, born in 1989 in An Hung ward (Thanh Hoa city), arresting 7 subjects. The seized exhibits included more than 1,000 synthetic drug pills and many other related documents and exhibits. Previously, on March 17, 2025, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, the Provincial Police and the Bai Tranh Commune Police (Nhu Xuan) discovered and arrested Nguyen Van Hung, born in 1991 and Ho Tien Bao, born in 1992, both residing in Thai Hoa town, Nghe An province, for "Illegally transporting narcotics". The seized exhibits included 6,000 pink pills...

Thanh Hoa Provincial Police are continuing to strengthen their forces, deploying many high-point attacks to suppress this type of crime; at the same time, maintaining professional measures, strictly managing areas, especially key areas, not allowing passive and unexpected situations to occur, ensuring security, order and social safety, bringing a peaceful life to the people.
