
Statistics on meat and meat products imports were released by the Import-Export Department ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) in the latest report.
In the first 8 months of 2025, Vietnam imported 623,600 tons of meat and meat products, worth 1.26 billion USD, up 11.9% in volume and 13.8% in value over the same period.
The main types of meat imported by Vietnam include: Meat and edible by-products after slaughtering, of poultry in group 01.05, fresh, chilled or frozen, accounting for 38.7% in volume and 19.2% in value; Fresh frozen buffalo meat accounting for 16.6% in volume and 29.4% in value; Fresh chilled or frozen pork accounting for 16.4% in volume and 21.8% in value.
In addition, there are edible by-products after slaughter of live pigs, buffaloes and cows, chilled or frozen, accounting for 19.7% in quantity and 13.5% in value; Fresh chilled or frozen beef accounts for 3.7% in quantity and 12.9% in value...
The record increase was fresh frozen meat. In the first 8 months of 2025, imports of this item reached 102,100 tons, worth 274.78 million USD, up 66.7% in volume and 95.2% in value over the same period in 2024. The average import price of fresh chilled or frozen pork was 2,688 USD/ton, up 17.17% over the first 8 months of 2024.
