Mistakes that result in deduction of points and suspension when taking the 10th grade entrance exam

Ho Chi Minh City: 10th graders taking the public exam will have 25-50% of their exam score deducted if they are reprimanded or warned during the exam; and will be suspended from the exam if they write or draw irrelevant content.

On the morning of June 5, more than 96,000 candidates came to the testing site to complete procedures, listen to regulations, and check personal information before entering the two official exam days.

At the Tran Van On Secondary School exam site in District 1, 535 candidates had their exam cards and ID cards checked by the invigilator, and their information adjusted if there were any errors. Candidates without ID cards could use their exam cards but had to write a commitment. Next, the invigilator informed the students about the regulations, the items allowed in the exam room, and the disciplinary measures if they violated the rules.

Mr. Vo Thien Cang, Head of the Examination and Quality Assessment Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, said there are three levels of discipline for candidates who violate exam regulations.

Specifically: Candidates who look at or exchange papers with other candidates will be reprimanded. If they have been reprimanded but still commit mistakes; exchange papers or scratch paper with other candidates; copy or let other candidates copy their papers, they will be warned.

Candidates will be suspended from the exam if they commit one of the following violations: bringing unauthorized items into the exam room, taking the exam questions out or receiving answers from outside; writing or drawing on the exam paper about content unrelated to the exam; or acting aggressively or threateningly towards other candidates or those responsible for the exam.

Candidates who have been warned once but continue to violate the regulations at the level of reprimand or warning during the exam will also be suspended from the exam. Suspended candidates must submit their exam papers, exam questions, and exam papers, leave the exam room immediately after the decision is made and will not be allowed to take the next exams.

In case of being warned during the exam, 25% of the exam score will be deducted. Candidates will have 50% of their exam score deducted if they violate the regulations at the warning level or are found marking or symbolizing in the exam.

A test will be given 0 points if: it is copied from documents brought into the examination room illegally; there are two or more papers for one subject; the test has handwriting by two or more people; parts of the test are written on scratch paper or paper that does not comply with regulations.

Mr. Cang noted that candidates who arrive more than 15 minutes late to the exam start time will not be allowed to take that subject. They will only be allowed to leave the exam area after 2/3 of the essay test time has passed.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City has nearly 114,000 junior high school graduates, of which 96,300 registered to take the public 10th grade exam. Of these, more than 88,000 students took the regular 10th grade exam, about 6,900 students took the specialized exam, and 1,100 students took the integrated 10th grade exam.

The total enrollment target of the city's 108 public high schools is 77,300, with an admission rate of 80.2%. Nearly 19,000 candidates who failed the public 10th grade entrance exam can continue studying at private schools, continuing education centers, and vocational schools.
