New employees receive July salary

Regarding the case of staff and lecturers of Quang Nam Medical College collectively stopping work due to prolonged unpaid wages, on December 30, Mr. Huynh Tan Tuan - Principal of the school - said that the unit had just transferred July's salary to the employees.

According to Mr. Tuan, for the remaining 5 months of salary debt, early next week, the Provincial Party Standing Committee will meet and propose a solution.

For nearly half a month, many staff and lecturers of Quang Nam Medical College decided to stop working collectively due to prolonged unpaid wages.

Meanwhile, a lecturer at Quang Nam Medical College confirmed that he had just received payment of one of the six months of salary owed by the school. The amount this lecturer received was less than 5 million VND and has been used entirely to pay off debt and living expenses in the past months.

As reported by VTC News, on December 14, 17 staff and lecturers working at the Nursing Department and the Basic Health Department of Quang Nam Medical College announced that they would stop working from December 18.

The reason for the collective decision to stop working is because the school has not paid their salaries and allowances for 6 months (from July 2023 to present). The Nursing Department and the Basic Health Department met and agreed to stop working until the school resolved the salary and allowance regime.

It is known that in the Nursing Department alone, the suspension of teaching activities will affect 6 classes: D17A, D17B, D18A, D18B, Y26, D6S. The affected courses are Endocrine Movement, Psychology - Communication Skills, School Practice, and Internship at Quang Nam General Hospital.

Not only the staff and lecturers of the Nursing and Basic Health Departments, Quang Nam Medical College currently owes 6 months of salary to 114 employees, totaling more than 5.7 billion VND. In addition to the salary arrears, the school has also been late in paying insurance for many months.

By December 18, two lecturers from the Faculty of Basic Medicine had stopped teaching, forcing 30 students to drop out of school.

Regarding the activities of Quang Nam Medical College, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province requested that this school report, explain and review the collective and individual responsibilities related to the direction of activities and allowing the prolonged shortcomings to occur, causing public outrage.
