In the application, Do Ky said that on November 22, he received notification of the results of the appraisal of the application for the 10th People's Artist title.

This notice clearly states: " This file was submitted by the Central Emulation and Commendation Committee to the Prime Minister for temporary retention due to: The individual has a petition and opinion from the Ministry of Public Security; he does not meet the conditions and standards to be considered for the 10th People's Artist title. The Department of Performing Arts sends information to Meritorious Artist Pham Do Ky for information" .

Do Ky indignantly said that until now he still does not know the content of the complaint that caused his file to be temporarily suspended from consideration for the title of People's Artist.

"I need clarification and answers to the following information: Who is the complainant? Is the complaint true? Is it true that my file has an opinion from the Ministry of Public Security and should be returned? If so, what is the opinion? If it is clarified that the complaint is not true, is it appropriate to "temporarily leave" my file?", artist Do Ky said.

He also added that his application for the 10th People's Artist title had been approved by the grassroots level when it met all the criteria and conditions, and was sent to the Central Emulation and Commendation Committee. The content of the complaint was also verified by the Performing Arts Department working with the Vietnam Drama Theater to be unfounded.

"So is it reasonable to "temporarily leave" my profile?", Artist Do Ky asked.

The male artist added that with more than 40 years of experience, he and his wife, People's Artist Lan Huong, never thought that they acted in plays and made films just to get a title.

"The titles we have are awarded by the authorities. We do not ask for them, our professional pride does not allow us to do that.

The recent incident made me very sad. Everyone thought, I don't understand what Mr. Do Ky did, how terrible the law was violated that the Ministry of Public Security intervened. So, after this incident, who will be the one to defend me?", artist Do Ky frankly said.

According to Meritorious Artist Do Ky, he is currently waiting for a response from the relevant agencies. He is also waiting for a process to review his application.

Regarding the petition of Meritorious Artist Do Ky, answering the question of Dan Tri reporter on the morning of November 24, Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet, Chief of Office, spokesman of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the Ministry has received the information, is re-examining the incident and will respond to the press agencies in writing.

Previously, Ms. Nghiem Thi Thanh Nguyet, Deputy Head of the Department of Organization and Personnel, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that during the process of reviewing the title of People's Artist, Meritorious Artist Do Ky filed a complaint but the relevant units resolved it transparently, in accordance with the procedures, according to the regulations issued by the Government .

"The petition was processed at the Ministerial Council before being submitted to the Central Emulation and Rewards Committee. Meritorious Artist Do Ky's profile met the criteria for People's Artist consideration, so the Ministerial Council sent it to the Committee, but when it was submitted to the Committee, the profile was suspended. The case was processed over many months, so there was nothing surprising or unexpected for the artist," Ms. Nguyet informed.

Meritorious Artist Do Ky was born in 1961 in Hanoi. In 1982, he graduated from the first Actor Training Class of the Vietnam Drama Theater and joined the army, joining the army with artists Trung Anh, Trong Trinh, Quoc Khanh...

He is known for the TV series: Huong Dat, Nep Nha, Nguoi Phan Xu, Ngoi Villa Mau Tro Lanh,... Before being the Head of the Art Department, Department of Performing Arts, he was the Deputy Director of the Vietnam Drama Theater. In 2022, he officially retired.
